Our adventure to Los Llanos included two rafting trips: the first a shorter opportunity on Level 3 rapids to warm up and acquaint ourselves with the rafting rules and procedures; the second on more exciting Level 4.5 rapids. Having missed the first trip due to bad weather, we proceeded to do both trips on our final day at Tom and Raquel's adventure camp, strategically located on the river Acequia to be the starting point of trip 1 and the end point of trip 2. Jul 3, 2009 - Adventures in the foothills of the Andes

Despite the rough night, things looked brighter in the morning. The boys were exhausted and empty but whatever had made them so ill did seem to be gone so we decided to try to make a start on our trip to Los Llanos, if a little carefully. Our guide and host, Tom Evenou of Arassari Trek, arrived at our posada at 7:30 am, bright and chipper and keen to take us into Los Llanos. Once we got back from Los Nevados, we decided to stick around the area a little bit longer and go on a 4 day white water rafting/safari trip to an area in Central Venezuela called Los Llanos, which is basically just thousands of miles of plains. Our hostel, Guamanchi, in Merida was also an adventure tour agency, so we went with their jeep and guides.
