Aug 16, 2013 - Happiness in a Garden

Slowly but surely our numbers are dwindling. As the younger folks return home to work and school responsibilities, the "older folks" are still at the house. I am referring to none other than my brother Brian, his wife Sue and Jerry and me. The four of us have one more day in our house on the Rock River in southern Wisconsin. Aug 15, 2013 - Local Sights

After traveling slowly around the country for the past 7 years in an RV, I'm convinced that you can entertain yourself just about anywhere with interesting things to do if you are open to learning about an area and enjoy history, nature or sports. We're taking turns cooking dinner and are on our own for breakfast and lunch. We've had fires in the firepit on the lawn each night. The first night was clear enough to see some of the meteors from the Persid Meteor Shower. Brooke brought...

Aug 12, 2013 - A Day on the Water

There's nothing more enjoyable than messing around in boats on a lazy August afternoon. Mila, age 16 months, went for her first boat ride while her parents and extended family also enjoyed the cool breezes as our pontoon boat zipped around Lake Koshkonong and the Rock River. We left the dock at 11 a.m. At noon we stopped and anchored in Crescent Cove for lunch. Then we took off again and headed up the Rock River to our rented house. We dropped Mila and her parents off at the house so she could have a nap and Amanda and Dave started making...
