May 25, 2015 - 2015 Camping Begins

May 21-23, 2015 Back in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp) era, this state park was known as Camp Twanoh. Now a Washington State Park, Twanoh is an easy and scenic hour-long drive north of where we live in Lacey. It’s located on the south shore of Hood Canal, which is really not a canal at all. It’s one of the many inlets of the Puget Sound. Turning off Highway 101 north of Shelton, we drove along SR 106. It was the first time along the scenic south shore for us. Jun 14, 2011 - Twanoh State Park in WA

This morning we returned the rental car we've had for the week. Then we drove to Kent to have some warranty work done on the RV before heading north toward Port Townsend, WA. Olympia National Forest is gorgeous and we really enjoyed the back roads after the freeways of Seattle. Ha. We left the main road and are staying 12 miles back at a little known state park called Twanoh State park. It is in the middle of the forest on a beautiful lake. We walked a small part of a trail tonight and hope to do more in the morning.
