Aug 9, 2014 - Ferries.

There are a lot of photos here because we had 5 legs over a two-week period of island hopping. We started on the Alaska Ferry in Prince Rupert, BC and had: 2 nights in Ketchikan 3 nights on Prince of Wales Island (Inter-Island Ferry System) 2 more nights in Ketchikan 4 nights in Sitka (our favorite) 1 night in Juneau (This would have been longer except the Alaska Ferry was without its largest ferry and schedules were fouled up.) We ended the ferry portion of the trip in Haines, AK where we met cousin Bill and Judi.

Aug 9, 2014 - Costs.

7117 miles - 472.2 gallons diesel fuel - $2078.70 diesel fuel (US dollars) - $4.40 per gallon diesel on average - 15.1 miles per gallon of diesel - 3.4 miles per US dollar. We're happy with that! It's significantly better than any of our lower 48 trips where we go faster and get lower mileage. $25.35 average cost of an overnight stay. That's a bit on the high side since we didn't "boondock" as much as we could. $5100 = total for diesel, RV/campground sites and ferry costs for the 8 weeks plus 1 day. Jul 7, 2014 - Tahuya, WA. Back home!

This is the day we got back home. Time to clean out the camper and settle in at the Cabin. The photos will be added to the last 10 entries or so, thanks to the Verizon USB modem on the laptop!! It actually works well at the cabin. 8 Weeks and 1 day on the road in a truck camper. More later.
