Jul 21, 2013 - Mt Rainier-Sunrise and Fremont trail

It was a less eventful day. We left about 8:45 am and it was 63 degrees and drove to Sunrise (another park village). We went from 1900 feet to 5400 feet down to 3500 and then up to 6400 feet. The ride was too bad though with less switchbacks and winding roads. Most of it was tree lined. We stopped at Sunrise Point for some pictures. At 10 am the parking lot is quite empty -so no issues today. From Sunrise, we began our 5.6 mile hike on the Mount Fremont Lookout Trail which takes you to an old fire lookout. We started the hike around 11 am....

Aug 11, 2011 - Day 72 - Mt. Rainier

Started out this morning for Mt. Rainier. We headed back north on HWY 82 toward Yakima. The view along the road looks very dry except for the irrigated vineyards and fruit orchards. We headed to HWY 12 to take the White Pass Scenic Byway along US12. There were signs that there was road construction with up to 2hr delays. We stopped at the forest ranger station for the Wenatchee National Forest. The ranger recommended that we take hwy 410 to avoid the construction.
