Jul 29, 2019 - Ferndale

We planned to deal with the overheated brake problem on Monday morning, but that didn’t work out. I had been told that someone at First Truck Centre in Abbotsford would be able to look at the brakes on Monday morning, but got a different story when we got there. As a result, we plan to have the brakes checked out later. Our crossing at the border was different from expected. I made a mistake and drove the Phaeton towing the Honda to the commercial crossing gate. I misread the sign indicating that RVs should use the commercial crossing on...

Apr 9, 2019 - Ferndale Wa

We drove into Seattle thru the Snoqualmie pass.It is still a road I do not like, its in poor condition with to much traffic. Potholes, poor lane markings and of course a heavy rain will always make any drive more difficult. I told Marion when we stopped today it will be the last time, I would rather drive from Portland up the I-5. Pulled into Ferndale with wet feet and rain in the forecast for our arrival home tomorrow. This is the final entry into this years Yuma trip. Where will we be in the coming months??

Nov 3, 2017 - Ferndale WA - Nov 3-4

After spending a considerable amount of time scrapping and chipping the ice and snow of our vehicles we got away mid afternoon. I have to say I had my doubts more than a few times. Between the wind chill and my age I found it colder than %#$#. Nov 4th Everything is a l m o s t going to plan. Got our Wi Fi Hotspot hooked up,then the Smart phone. This will be an interesting venture to see if it really is smart or make a fool of the operators! The one thing that was forgotten was our RV water filters,so off to Aldergrove we went because these...

Jul 17, 2017 - Almost gone

We made it to Ferndale, WA where we leave the RV. The AC/Heater is fixed. Left the sweltering heat behind. Beautiful weather in Washington, much more like what I expected. Fly to Anchorage tomorrow, so now the real adventure begins. I guess I haven't figured out how the map works. I tried to plot our progress but nothing happens.

Aug 19, 2016 - Ferndale

On Tuesday we made another short move similar to the one from La Push to Forks. This time we moved from Birch Bay to Ferndale RV in Ferndale. Ferndale is a small town a few miles north of Bellingham. We have had a quiet few days here with some running on paths and roads near the RV park, a couple of meals in restaurants in downtown Ferndale, and a visit by Sue to Weightwatchers in Bellingham. We took a day trip today. We drove the 58 miles from Bellingham to Artists Point on highway 542, the Mount Baker Scenic Byway. We had a nice stop at a...

Jun 6, 2016 - Back In the United States

We left Campbell River this morning, we drove to Nanaimo and caught the ferry over to Vancouver. It was amazing to see how many trucks and cars that huge ferry can load onto it. We were on the ferry for about two hours. We went through US Customs near Blaine, Washington before driving on to Ferndale, Washington for one night. We got a pull-through site so we didn’t even have to unhook. We were so tired we didn’t even put the slide out. :-) We will be on the road again early tomorrow, making our way to California. The Wi-Fi is very slow, I...

Apr 13, 2013 - Ferndale, WA

Hi, All is well EXCEPT FOR the fact we almost had to build the ark within the trailer this evening! Somehow the tap was on and when we we connected the pressure hose outside, we started filling the trailer with water.....ahoy!!!!! Anyway, after swimming in to rescue Moe, I managed to turn the water off and begin salvage operations! Had to take all the carpets out and Moe took them to dry in the dryers here....washed the floors....had to clean out the cupboards as the water had even leaked in there.......whew! I must admit that a few four...

Oct 18, 2012 - Day 9 - Hanging out in Ferndale

Nothing much to report today. We were going to head for the Tulalip Casino today but decided to stay here one extra day to watch the Seahawk's game on Thursday Night Football. Could have done that at the casino but would have needed to run the generator the full time. Plugged in here is better. We will go in to town to Walgreen's this afternoon but since it is raining this will otherwise be a hunker down inside day. We'll be headed for Tulalip in the morning and Lake Pleasant on Saturday.

Oct 17, 2012 - Day 8 - Scratch Canada

Heard sirens going up I-5 yesterday afternoon. Now we know why. From this morning's Seattle Times: Canadian border guard Lori Bowcock, shot in the neck in her booth at the Peace Arch Crossing, had worked as a civilian dispatcher at police headquarters in London, Ontario, until last spring, police said. She was hospitalized in stable condition after Tuesday's shooting. Bowcock was wounded Tuesday by a man entering Canada in a van with Washington license plates who then died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Royal Canadian Mounted...

Oct 16, 2012 - Day 7 - Ferndale

After doing some scouting around yesterday we decided we liked the Ceders RV Park enough to move up here from the TT. We have a nice wide site with a clear shot for the satellite as well as 50 amps and when the sun breaks through there are no trees to block it. We are close to the town of Ferndale which is about 12 miles north of Bellingham. Right now the plan is to stay here three nights, go to Vancouver B.C. tomorrow and maybe up to Mount Baker on Thursday. Then we will spend one night at the Tulalip Casino before going home on Saturday....

Jun 11, 2012 - Day off

Still can't figure out how to post photos. Downloaded the app requested, but it still doesn't work. Sorry about that. Shall have to try to paint word pictures. SATURDAY We did make Spokane. Became WalMart campers for the night. There was a nice park right across the street that was fenced. Oscar got to run and even Rudy enjoyed his walk in the park. SUNDAY We were up early and did some grocery shopping before pulling out of WalMart. It was nice driving thru downtown Spokane early on a Sunday morning - no traffic. Shortly after leaving...

May 22, 2012 - Day 1

Hit the border about noon Huge lineup of trucks - I couldn't even make the turn to the border so I had to go through the intersection and come back and turn left into the Nexus lane. The Nexus pass got me to the front of the 30 minute lineup and the customs official let me through with just 3 or 4 question. The only problem I had was easing the trailer through the obstacle course leading up to the booth. They've set up humongous poles and 2 or 3 turns I guess so a mad citizen can't race through there to avoid paying duty! I stopped at the...
