Aug 17, 2015 - Hopps, Apples, and Smoke

We were glad to leave Yakima, WA this morning. We saw quite a few characters last night during our supper that were a little on the scary side. One had a wrist band with spikes sticking out of it. We found out this morning we had stayed in the drug infested part of the town. We wondered why cops were patrolling heavily and why there were high fences around all the businesses and even homes in the area. Started east toward Palouse Falls and learned not much water coming over the falls and area had fire, went instead to Coulee Dam and toured...

The show is about 30 minutes long. Today we took a tour of dam itself. It is amazing how much revenue these dams generate and to think that this power is non-polluting. However there is no...

Sep 11, 2008 - Grand Coulee Dam, WA

(Ron Writing) After breakfast we left our nice “private” campground at Sherman Pass and continued west on scenic WA-20. At Tonasket, WA highway 20 joins with US-97 and heads south through the Okanogan River valley. All along this route there are many fruit orchards being irrigated with the river water. It looked like the harvest was underway as we saw pickers busy bringing in the fruit and huge stacks of large crates waiting to be filled near the fields. At Fort Okanogan State Park we took WA-17 south along the Columbia River to Bridgeport,...
