May 26, 2016 - The Olympic Peninsula

When we left Paradise Cove, in Oregon, on the 15th we moved north about 150 miles. This took us thru Astoria, Oregon and over the long, long Megler Bridge over the Columbia River. The bridge is also very high to allow all the ship traffic to travel the river. So much commercial traffic plies this river. Then the trains, on both sides of the river take that cargo in all directions to fill the shelves of stores all over the country and bring raw materials to our factories. I found a couple of pictures of the bridge on the internet. Once on...

Jul 22, 2015 - A short trip to the Coast

It’s only an hour and a half from our driveway to the Coast. We camped three nights at an Encore/Thousand Trails RV “resort” near Copalis Beach, just north of Ocean Shores. Friends Dale and Georgia were in their time-share condo less than a mile up the beach. We enjoyed daily Happy Hours and subsequent dinners together. After dinner activities were dominos--- Mexican Train and Chicken Foot! Dinner our first evening was at the Galway Bay Irish Pub in Ocean Shores where we’d attended the Irish Music Festival last October 2014. The next...

Aug 18, 2012 - The Dunes RV, Copalis Beach, WA

Saturday-8/18- The Dunes RV, Copalis Beach, WA We stayed at The Dunes RV in Copalis Beach, WA for three days and caught up on some rest—this was a nice small, quiet park. We went to the beach one day and the girls walked and ran on the beach. We were able to drive our car on the beach; we drove down the beach several miles, found a nice place and parked and watched the ocean waves and seabirds. Terry walked a different area of the beach another day at low tide and found many sand dollars to collect. This is the first beach he was able to...

Aug 19, 2009 - Copalis Beach, Washington

Copalis Beach, WA – August 19-25, 2009 Temperature - 60’s – Partly Cloudy We moved about five miles today and arrived at Copalis Beach RV Park in Copalis Beach, WA. This park is right on the ocean and we can see the waves from our site. After being in the trees for a week it was a shock to be out in the open. This park has a clubhouse and horseshoes but no pool. I guess we have to use the ocean if we want to swim (brrrrr). We had a little rain yesterday but other than that it has been nice. We went to a Gospel Music Fest on the 22nd and...

Jan 4, 2008 - New Years 2008 in Copalis

The trip to Copalis was a short one, just 4 days. We left Saturday, December 29th and traveled down I5. A smooth trip, with stops at the Arlington Rest Area and Eagles Nest Casino (exit 111, Lacey). Lunch at the Casino and a good walk for the BBD, and we were ready for the rest of the drive. I am always happy when we reach Highway 12, the road that WPPSS built, as the 2 lanes and relative quiet traffic is soothing after the zippy cars on the interstate. As we approached Aberdeen the temperature seemed to drop and we saw snow alongside the...
