Apr 4, 2014 - 5th District Conference in the Gorge

We took a leisurely drive down I-5 to the Portland area and made a couple of quick stops before heading to Carson for the meeting. The Carson Post is an old 30's or 40's era building that apparently was once a roller rink. The commander was friendly and appreciated the favorable comments about his Post. The meeting on the other hand was a disaster. This District has had some leadership problems, but in their mind, everything is the fault of state offices and officers. Jul 11, 2012 - Nat'l Forest Rd to Columbia

Today we are on our way to travel along the Columbia River, most of the way on the Washington side. It is a day filled with many types of landscape. The trip south to the river is of course through the Cascades and National Forest with lots trees and twisty, winding roads. We had a few pull outs and viewpoints and several views of Mt. St. Helens before we came out and saw the river.

Oct 4, 2009 - Gifford Pinchot National Forest

‘This was the best weekend of my entire life! Even better than the wedding in Finland!’ That’s what I told John on Sunday when we were on our way home. We had decided to go and spend the weekend near Mt. Adams at one of the many campgrounds in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It was time to give our RV an outing.
