May 7, 2018 - Battle Ground Lake SP

Battle Ground Lake SP-- Third of three State Parks. The distance to Battle Ground Lake SP from Paradise Point SP is about twenty miles. That's if you go directly from one park to the other! Because we first went to church about two miles from Paradise Point, Google Maps directions took us on the forty-five minute "scenic" route. But we got to where we wanted to go! The state park's two hundred eighty acres are centered on an ancient crater lake of volcanic origin. The lake now is spring-fed. It's planted with trout, and is a popular fishing...

Traveling in 2018

May 12, 2013 - Battle Ground, WA

Thursday, May 2 to Sunday, May 12, 2013 We arrived at Chuck and Debbie’s around 4pm. Debbie had a delicious ham cooked for supper. We visited and rested for a couple of days and enjoyed being with Chuck and Debbie. During the following week, we ate lunch at the Senior Center in Battle Ground – one of the best senior centers we have eaten at. After lunch, we headed to the Chuck and Debbie’s building to paint the white trim around the doors, windows, and bookshelves, and wainscoting. There is still plenty of painting for Chuck to paint as we...

VNL Travels 2013

Apr 30, 2013 - Augusta, MT to Battle Ground, WA

Thursday, April 25 to Tuesday, April 30, 2013 We are based in Augusta, MT and searching for a piece of property/house that will be home for Carolyn and Tom. The weather has been cold with grapple, snow, sleet, rain, and plenty of wind from 55 to 75 mph. The trailer rocked back and forth and several times we wondered if the Casita was going to flip. The temperatures ranged from low 20’s to high 40’s. On Monday, we decided to call off the search because we found several places that might work for them. Chuck and Debbie have invited us to...

VNL Travels 2013

Jul 17, 2011 - Battle Ground, WA

On the drive back to Battle Ground, WA we saw an elk refuge. Lots of bulls in a very close pasture near a road. The cows were further away. Got pictures of the royal elks in the herd. We stopped at Cabela's at Springfield and then Chuck, Lowell, and I ate at Five Guys and Fries. YUM!! Back to the Stillman's RV park to unload and reload the Stillman's trailer and truck for Montana trip. Debbie and Chuck had plenty to wash of their own clothes so I will wait to wash clothes at a laundry in Montana - several loads washed and dried at one time.

Summer 2011

Jul 4, 2011 - Battle Ground, WA

We spent July 4th resting and trying out Chuck's outdoor oven. On Saturday, July 2 Chuck, his two sons, and Lowell went on the SP4449. It is the only operating steam locomotive in the US. This was a fundraiser to help with the 15 year Overhaul Fund. Every 15 years the train has a major overhaul of the boiler, flues, super heaters, and miles of pipes, fittings and then testing to make sure it was done right. This was the last scheduled mainline run for the SP4449 in the foreseeable future! Because we were asked by several to include more...

Summer 2011

Jun 23, 2011 - Lodgepole NFCG to Debbie & Chuck Stillman's

WOW! What a beautiful winter wonderland we came through. The snow was so deep and was sliced through for traffic. The fog just added to the beauty. The most snow that high at one time that Lowell has ever seen and it definitely was for this south Texas girl. It was certainly worth the day's wait to cross over Chinook Pass. What beauty!! We are both say it was awesome!! We are now in Battle Ground, WA with our friends Chuck and Debbie. We will remain here for a few days. Debbie broke her shoulder a week ago and we are visiting and doing what...

Summer 2011

Sep 8, 2008 - Battle Ground, WA

To Battlegound, Washington today. Teague left a few days ago to meet some friends, Eric N. and Steve S. at Steve's house in Bay Center. Nothing a little sturgeon fishing won't cure! Unfortunately, no fish were caught but a great time was had by all - so I hear. We were greeted by Steve, Lisa and Christopher at their house near Battle Ground, where our trailer has lived since we bought it last June. We spent about a day and half getting supplies and packing all our stuff into the trailer Thomas writes... We finally made it to our trailer! It...

May 18, 2008 - Almost a Full Circle

Hi Folks, Well we've come pretty much full circle. We are currently in Battle Ground, WA. We apologize for not keeping you all in the loop, but our travels have been temporarily put on hold. You see Jody's mom Betty, whom many of you know, has taken a turn for the worse. We were notified two weeks ago that her health is deteriorating and we aren't sure how much longer she will be with us. We had a wonderful stay in Yuma with our friends, Norm and Nina. We finished our stay with a final trip to the desert. Our destination was called Dripping...

Aug 7, 2007 - Hope, BC to Battle Ground, WA (Tim & Zina's)

This morning we are leaving Hope headed out to Battle Ground, WA to spend the night with Tim, Zina and Julie. I think we are feeling a little nostalgic about returning home after having had such a wonderful trip! Part of you wants to go home, but the other part of you wants to just keep going and experiencing different places and people. One of the biggest highlights of our trip is the wonderful people that we have met and talked with along the way. So we didn't have to set up our stove, etc., we ate breakfast at the Subway, and then washed...
