Apr 10, 2021 - Waco, Texas

We woke up to 55 degrees and windy so it was very cool outside. We drove into Waco and checked out the Flea Market and it wasn't crowded so we asked a lady and she said Sundays are usually better so we might go again tomorrow. We head to Magnolia Cafe for breakfast and there was a 2 hour wait so no Thank You, we ended up at El Charo Restaurant which was very good, never had chips and salsa with breakfast, then we head over to see Magnolia Market and Silos which if you are fans of Fixer/Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines you know what I am...

Sep 16, 2020 - dodge city, kansas

Monday we left Waco, and headed to Oklahoma City, OK. Traveling to Oklahoma City was pretty much the same as yesterday, about 4 hours with 2 stops. We arrived at our campsite, Roadrunner RV Park. like the night before, the campsite was conveniently right off I35, and guess what, same swoosh swoosh swoosh sound of mostly trucks traveling the freeway!! We got enough rest, then off we go again, headed to Dodge City, Kansas. Rather than taking the main interstate routes, we took secondary roads, less traveled, but were able to see lots of farms...

Sep 13, 2020 - Colorado Springs Here We Come

After 2 days of packing up the 5th wheel, we pulled out of the driveway ON TIME. Bob said let's leave around 10:00 a.m., and we were packed, hooked up, and headed out at 9:50 a.m., pretty impressive, huh? Today's drive to Waco, TX, except for our traditional stop at Bucee's, was fairly uneventful! Not that stopping at Bucee's was that eventful, but it is a happening place!! And this is the first trip we've decided to take since Covid 19, so we are breaking out of our comfort zone, well my comfort zone and headed to Colorado Springs to meet...

Feb 3, 2020 - February 3, 2020 – Stillwater, Oklahoma to Waco, Texas

February 3, 2020 – Stillwater, Oklahoma to Waco, Texas I got away from Stillwater at 8:30. I stopped in Edmund to get some things at the Crest grocery store. They have some cheeses and cold cuts which I really like and can’t get in Texas. I filled the car with gas while I was stopped and headed on south. It was an easy run down to and through Fort Worth. Then, it began to sprinkle and finally to rain. Fortunately I had only 40 miles or so to go when it began to rain hard. I got here at 4. I’ve had supper and am in for the night. I’m glad...

Nov 20, 2019 - Lake Medina Texas Hill Country

We arrived Borne RV Service on Friday Nov 15th to start the process of getting warranty items repaired on our 5th wheel, after an hour of lengthy discussion with service writer we finely got everything accomplished. Now we wait for warranty items to be approved by manufacture, ordering of parts and then scheduling of repairs. Once we left dealership we made our way over to Thousand Trails camp site at Lake Medina in the beautiful hill country here in Texas just north of San Antonio about an hour. Saturday was spent getting all the fluids...

Oct 25, 2018 - The start of our journey

It all started in Waco,TX. We retired, sold our bricks and sticks home, and bought our 2018 Road Warrior 5th wheel toy hauler. We are living full time as nomads and so far are really into the lifestyle. We have stayed in Alabama and Louisiana as well as Texas. I'm not much of a blogger so it remains to be seen how often this gets updated.

Sep 12, 2018 - Magnolia Silos Market

We had a fun and busy day today. We visited the famous Magnolia Market, Chip and Joanna Gaines's store in Waco, Texas. Fans of HGTV's Fixer Upper know that the couple undertook their biggest rehab project ever when they acquired a sprawling downtown Waco property that includes two huge grain silos and a 20,000-square-foot barn. Since its grand opening in 2015, the complex has quickly become more than a store. It's a major destination, where thousands flock every week. Location was key when Chip and Joanna were looking to expand their...

Sep 10, 2018 - Waco, Texas

We left Thackerville this morning and drove about 165 miles to Waco, Texas. We had to make a stop on the way in Denton, Texas at the Inland Truck and Repair Shop for an air leak. We kept losing the air pressure in our RV every time Jerry hit the brakes. They found a tiny hole in the airline and had to replace it, that took about two hours of our trip. We were happy to find a place that could fix it. After we emptied our wallet for $280, we were on the road again. :) After the repair was done we drove through the horrible Dallas/Fort Worth...

Aug 18, 2018 - Waco, TX

First stop of the day was McDonalds for a quick breakfast then on to Bucee’s for our last fuel stop of the trip. What a great price! $2.49 a gallon for diesel. We haven’t seen anything cheaper than $2.79 all summer and most were over $3 a gallon. Then we hit I-35 south until we got to Waco. The construction through Fort Worth wasn’t too long but a bit tricky. But as always, Jay did a great job driving. After setting up the RV in Waco and taking Rocky for a quick trip to the dog park where we’re staying, Jay and I headed into downtown Waco....

Jun 1, 2018 - Day 3 - Waco TX

Day 3 was pretty much the reason we like RV-ing. 350 miles on back roads. No Interstate the whole day (except for the last 14 miles getting to the RV park in Waco). Not sorry to see Midland / Odessa in the rear view camera. First 110 miles of the day were on brand new asphalt / 4-lane highway. Really nice. Nothing but open fields and oil pumps for the first 50 miles, and then into the hill / horse country. Very few towns along the way, just miles of open spaces. Very green countryside - beautiful. Only downside was the speed limit - 75 mph...
