May 19, 2020 - Packing to leave tomorrow

Date: May 19, 2020 Weather: sunny, hot Temperature: start 77º High 97º Wildlife count: Skink Year List: 293 Birds: Up early and enjoyed morning coffee outdoors, the breeze began and kept the mosquitos at bay. We enjoyed a lovely walk down to the field below the cemetery – we had seen farm equipment heading that direction and wanted to investigate. We are not sure what crop has been planted. May 18, 2020 - Hot preparation day

Date: May 18, 2020 Weather: sunny, humid Temperature: start 73º High 94º Wildlife count: Skinks Year List: 293 Birds: Outdoor coffee then a lovely breakfast of blueberry pancakes and sausage. Our errands included the car wash, where we stopped the automatic renewal, Costco for photos of the plexiglass barrier and the last few food items, dropped off our shoe & clothing donations and fuel. May 17, 2020 - Relaxing day

Date: May 17, 2020 Weather: sunny Temperature: start 71º High 89º Wildlife count: Skinks Year List: 293 Birds: Beautiful day – a light breeze and the mosquitoes finally drove us indoors around 7:30pm. Enjoyed outdoor coffee, then wonderful worship with COR on the book of Revelation. Quickly changed and shopped at Walmart. Relaxed this afternoon then enjoyed happy hour with Kurt and Virginia, who will stay here all summer. Dinner was hot dogs and a green salad.

May 16, 2020 - Rainy day

Date: May 16, 2020 Weather: rain, storms in the morning, clear later Temperature: start 65º High 85º Wildlife count: squirrel Year List: 293 Birds: The rain began around 8am and lasted most of the morning – it stayed fairly dark, so we just relaxed indoors and enjoyed John's egg taquitos. After lunch, things had settled, so we took a ride to enjoy the scenery. Dinner was pot roast and gravy over potatoes and onions – leftover, sweet corn completed our meal. A good day of waiting.

It finally dried and we walked about 2 miles down around the dip tank and got good looks at the San Juan plantation, built in 1904 by the sheriff of Hidalgo Co. Date: May 14, 2020 Weather: hot and sunny Temperature: start 78º High 94º Wildlife count: Year List: 263 Birds: After coffee outdoors, we enjoyed our first sit-down meal out – a sit-down breakfast at Jimmy’s Egg, with plenty of room between us and everyone else. Jane waited on us and we were able to share our gift to her. A trip to Costco followed. We prepared the meat for the freezer and our chuck roast in the crock pot. Breakfast in the HEB parking lot then shopped. Once home, we got busy with laundry and packed up the new chairs and packed the front of the RV basement. We had planned to do just ½ but it was comfortable outdoors so we continued. Also washed the chairs and packed them, removed the wheel covers with the decision to order new, and cleaned the wheel chocks, so we don’t transport insects.
