The San Angelo State Park is located on the shores of O.C. Fisher Reservoir which was completed by the US Corps of Engineers in 1952 for flood control on the North Concho River. The park is also home to the Official Texas State Longhorn Herd which we hope to see while we are here. We didn't see any sign of them or the bison that are in the same huge area when also stayed in hiding today. We have a beautiful campsite with a view of the lake. Unfortunately, there isn't much of a lake to see. You can really see the ravages of the drought...

We could tell we crossed the border into Texas when the dairy farms were no longer rundown and the landscape turned greener. Some of the ranches even had huge homesteads with fancy fences and barns. Feed stations were very modern and clean.
