May 31, 2016 - Quanah, Tx

On our way back east. Camped at Old Town Cotton Gin RV Park in Quanah, TX. Really nice campground right off the hwy. Met the owner Norma Trolinder. Very interesting person. She has her Doctorate in Science and worked on genetics of cotton plants. She has several awards including one from JFK for her outstanding work. The Old Cotton Mill is still here with all the original equipment. The Mill is full of antiques. Really well kept.

May 20, 2013 - Copper Breaks State Park

Today was another travel day. All went well until we reached Wichita Falls and ran into a horrible storm with sheets of rain and huge hail. We heard on the news the hail was the size of golf balls, some of them looked even larger to us. They were hitting the windshield so hard we were afraid it would crack. Cars were pulling off the road all over the sides and stopping in front of us. Not fun when you are driving a 40 foot RV pulling a car. We made it through without any damage to the car or RV, thank God. We are all set up at Copper...

Jun 8, 2010 - Caprock Canyon

Tuesday, June 8, 2010--Caprock Caynon State Park, Quitaque, TX. Move day again today. We are now another 100 miles or so northward, into the panhandle of Texas. No internet signal here either, so who knows when I will be able to transmit this update. Another strange start to our day again today. As I was hooking up, the tongue jack on the camper made a loud “bang” and failed. This let the hitch settle down onto the trailer ball on the truck rather than falling all the way to the ground. It was a lucky thing it fell this way, because we had...

May 25, 2010 - Quanah, Texas

Tuesday, May 25, 2010--Quanah Texas Move day today. We had a very nice trip up here. We traveled 159 north miles on secondary roads. Very nice roads and very little traffic. It was very relaxing. Our Global Positioning system tried to put us on a road that we couldn’t see. We kept going northbound. We stopped at a wide spot in the road and checked the maps. We were about five miles off course. Martha, (our GPS), kept trying to put us on county roads. The only problem was that the roads were dirt! You read about people blindly following the...

Aug 11, 2007 - Quanah, TEXAS

Ok, everyone has heard of the famous Comanche Indian Chief, Quanah Parker! Well, this town was named after him. He spent quite a bit of time here, it sounds like. Anyway, we have made it back to Texas. Not quite so long a day today. We had time to goof off a little. Went to Camping World before leaving Albuquerque this morning. We wore the step covers out on the motorhome, so picked up more. Should make on home tomorrow without a problem. Got to make doctor's appointments, etc. next week. We'll be home for awhile, so this will be last...
