May 15, 2020 - Finally, it is getting close to moving day
This has been a very unusual time for us as I know it has been for all of y'all. Normally we would get back to Texas and catch up on the routine Doctor visits and the holidays with family. It started with me seeing a pain doctor for a problem I have been having since July. I had woke up one morning and I could hardly walk without severe pain in right leg. I thought at first I might have pulled a groin muscle. It never got better. I got referred to a pain doctor. After x-rays and a MRI they determined it was from arthritis and bulging discs...Jump to full entry
Sep 26, 2019 - Made it to Texas
Good Morning, everyone. We got started a little later than we normally do. We had planned to get started earlier before it got hot but that is kinda hard to do when the day starts out hot and then just gets hotter. The humidity is such that when you step outside we break out into sweat. We have heard reports that WSS is bracing for a winter blizzard this weekend where there is a possibility of 3 feet of snow and wind chills down to 0 degrees.Jump to full entry
Apr 7, 2019 - Where did the time go?
It is that time of the year again. We are getting things ready to head back to Montana and we wonder where the time has gone. It seems like only yesterday that we were heading South to get away from the freezing temps. We have had the truck serviced and checked out and its ready to roll along with a few improvements to the 5th wheel. We have discarded a few things that we haven't used or needed and accumulated a few things to take their place. When one lives in a place that has limited space and storage then it comes very important that if...Jump to full entry
Mar 10, 2018 - Preparing to head North
It is getting close to the time we will be heading back to Montana. We left White Sulphur Springs with a foot of snow on the ground and temps in the single digits. Almost afraid we had waited to late but all went well and we made it back to Texas. We had a good time during the holidays seeing everyone. We got to have some time with all the grandkids and run around with our siblings. Everyone is doing well. The Grandkids are growing up and becoming young men and women. They change so much each time we see them. This journey back to Montana...Jump to full entry
Oct 29, 2015 - Made a complete circle
We left Shady Creek a day early due to the heavy rain that is forecasted for tomorrow. They were calling for 100% chance of rain with storms starting in the morning and traveling East. Which we would have been in it all day coming to Mineola. So we moved on Thursday so we would have good weather all day. We called the girls to let them know we were coming in a day early. Everyone was excited because it had been 7 moths since we had seen them. We had a good drive and only had to stop one time to get out and walk around. The new new knees are...Jump to full entry
Apr 3, 2015 - Getting ready to heading back North!!!
This past week we have been getting things situated to go back on the road. After being here in Mineola for the past 6 months things get moved around and out of place. Also getting back into the routine of breaking down and setting up takes a bit to get back into the hang of things. We are meeting everyone at my Sisters to have a cook out and tell everyone goodbye before we head out in the morning. It was good to see everyone and was surprised by Tonya, Vicki, Lewis and Austin drove in from Bastrop to spend the weekend. We had a good time...Jump to full entry
Apr 21, 2014 - Mineola, TX
Today we took a little trip of about 60 miles north of here to meet some friends that we originally met in AZ. They have a place in Mount Pleasant, TX. They drove 65 miles or so and met us for lunch. We ate and chatted for nearly 4 hours. We took up way too much of their time, but is was fun getting back together to hash over things. They are flying out day after tomorrow to Amman, Jordan - on the other side of the world. They will be sending pictures via Facebook and Flickr. Have a safe trip, Stephan and Amy! Mineola was founded in 1873...Jump to full entry
Mar 28, 2011 - YARs (Young Active Retirees)
March 28, 2011 Today around 9am we left FCRV Retirees Rally. It has been fun. Now we are attending FCRV "YARs" Rally. We will be here at the Mineola Civic Center through Thursday. March 29, 2011 Today at 9am we met to tie dye our YARs t-shirts. We started with a white t-shirt. Then you twist pieces of the t-shirt and wrap it with rubber bands until your shirt is all twisted up. Then you take a mixture of craft paint (which we used blue) and some water and mix it in a spray bottle. Then you spray the t-shirts then hang them up to dry. After...Jump to full entry
Jun 16, 2009 - Long Hot Dusty Roads
Today has been a long hot day of driving. We finally made it to Texas and have found a way around Dallas, which pleases Dick. We went off the interstate to Hwy 69 and found a really nice campground. Good water pressure, 50 amp hook up, wi-fi, sewer and shade trees and the price was right, what more could you want. Tomorrow we head out for Oklahoma City to see my cousin Shirley and her husband Norman. We plan to spend a few days to see the memorial and other points of interest.Jump to full entry
Jun 5, 2009 - Moving day to Mineola Civic Center!!!
Well its moving day. We will miss Lake of the Pines. We got up early and got things ready to go before it got to hot. We came to Mineola Texas and we camped at the RV park next to the Civic Center. Our youngest dauhter and her family live here, and it is close enough to Tyler where we have our Dr appoinments. We got set up and went to see the kids and then later that night both our daughters and their families came by to see us and visited for awhile. It was great sitting around and visiting with them. The next day was a hot one. We had a...Jump to full entry
