Feb 28, 2017 - Runaway Jury in Polk County

Jury summons arrives. Ang texts me the info since I'm in Dallas, Texas at the time I should be serving. In the past, I would have tried to find a way out of the jury summons. Retirement changes things. I now felt it was my civic duty to serve so I call to reschedule when in town at the end of February. Tuesday, February 21, I along with approximately 200 other citizens arrive at the judicial center. There are 3 trials to be chosen so they divide us into thirds...one to show up on Thursday, one to stay in the courtroom for jury selection,...

Oct 26, 2012 - Return to Lake Livingston

FRIDAY This morning I returned to Lake Livingston to visit a couple more days with Lullene. It rained lightly all the way there. SATURDAY It was quite chilly and windy this morning but we didn’t let that stop us from going out. We went to Livingston to have lunch at the Escapees CARE Center and to look around the grounds a little. I picked up my mail after lunch. Then we checked out the Memorial Medical Center, which is larger than the facilities in most towns of this size (population about 6,500).

Oct 21, 2012 - Visit with Cousin Lullene Knox

This morning I was on the road by 8:00 and heading for Lake Livingston to visit cousin Lullene for a couple of days. I missed some of the turns I had planned to take, so I drove about 30 miles out of the way; but I still made it to her house by noon. I need to get a larger map! Her entrance is rather narrow so I had to pull in my passenger-side mirror in order to get through. I was very careful not to scrape anything. Lullene had just returned from Dallas, where she has an apartment. There were several things she needed to do at the lake...

Mar 24, 2011 - Visit with Lullene - Day I

This morning I was on the road by 9:00, heading to Lake Livingston to visit cousin Lullene Knox for a few days. It was after 1:00 when I arrived. Neither of us had eaten lunch, so we went to Jerry’s Restaurant in nearby Onalaska. On the way back home we stopped at the supermarket to get a few things. STATS: Route: TX 71 E to Bastrop => TX 21 E to Bryan => TX 6 S to College Station => TX 30 E to Huntsville => US 190 E to Waterwood Parkway Total Miles Driven: 194 Weather Conditions: Sunny and Dry Road Conditions: Good, mostly 4-lane
