Feb 29, 2020 - Lake Colorado City State Park, Colorado City, TX

We completed our second volunteer tour at Oliver Lee Memorial SP yesterday. It was a great two months. It is now time to head to Memphis to welcome Olivia Ann Dressman into this world. We will make two overnight stops on our way to Memphis. Our first stop is a Texas State Park called Lake Colorado City SP. We are sitting in site 41 with electricity and water. Mar 22, 2012 - A Day In Midland

Nice clear sunshine day for the 80 mile drive east on I 20 to Midland, Tx. to see the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum (petroleummuseum.org). When we got there about 10:30 we were invited to the brown bag lunch viewing of the 90 minute documentary "spOILed", if you get a chance it is worth seeing. Very nicely done at telling and showing where oil comes from, how we get it and how we use it. Outside is a large drive through outdoor display of old and new oil field equipment . The museum also houses the Chaparral Racing Gallery chronicling how...

After a stop for Mary to get her nails manicured we had lunch at Skeets Texas Grille where Mary had the biggest and best chicken fried steak she said she has ever had. Next we went out to Avenger Field to visit the National WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) WWII Museum (waspmuseum.org/) . This was the home base and training facility that trained women pilots to ferry warplanes...

It was still 43F and windy when we left at 9AM for the 80 mile drive east on I-20 to Abilene (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abilene,_Texas). Our first stop was Best Buy to exchange the Nikon camera that died for a Sony Cyber-Shot, we'll see how long this one lasts. Our next stop after driving around trying to...
