Jul 4, 2015 - Happy Independence Day!

We had a blast riding on the "float" at the parade this morning. When we got to the end, there were hot dogs and drinks for everyone. For dessert there were snow cones and cotton candy. Yum! Then the judging began, and the float won two awards! Best Float and also Most Patriotic were awarded to the entry! Way to go! After the rain storm passed, we got a ride on the "mule"(ATV) which seats 4 adults. What a fun thing to ride in! Following the dinner bar-b-que, the boys lit the fireworks. Karen and I are really beat. Tomorrow it is "on the...

Jul 3, 2015 - Independence Day decorating.

Today was a busy day. After taking a 3 1/2 mile walk, no random gravity checks,𯘀 we spent time looking at our maps to decide where to stay when we leave here Sunday morning. Following a bagel run, the sky started thundering and then let loose. We sat on the front porch and enjoyed the rain immensely. Danielle saw that the boys were drenched so she had them wash their hair out in the rain. After the sun went low on the horizon, the decorating of the trailer for tomorrow began. Now we are ready for the parade!

Jun 12, 2004 - June 12-13 - Humble - Gilbreath Family Reunion

The reunion was hosted by Donna Reynolds at her home. She has plenty of room for all of us because she owns the Montessori school next door and two small houses behind her home. She has many air mattresses which she put into the school classrooms. Or course, I went in my Chinook, so I had my own sleeping space and bath facilities. I just cannot rest when I’m crowded in with a bunch of other people, especially when someone is snoring!

Jun 9, 2001 - Humble - Gilbreath Reunion

This week end I attended the Gilbreath family reunion in Humble. Very few were able to attend because of flooded roads. On my way down, I saw a lot of deep standing water but I was able to get there with no trouble. This was a bad one! Shirley Silcox’s house was flooded with about two feet of water. After the reunion, Donna, Ray and I went with her to see what needed to be done. Before we had even arrived at her neighborhood, we could smell the mold from all the ruined carpets, furniture, etc. I took a lot of pictures to document the...
