May 13, 2011 - Friday The 13th In Granbury !

We slept in today and then headed for a quick lunch at Arby's. The boys were on the cable by 2pm and Missy and me were on the Town square hitting the shops. We found a great furniture store with a lot of cool stuff that we loved and the prices were fantastic. Missy tried on boots and she bought a new sun hut. We picked the boys up by 6:30 and they were riding great and had made friends with the owner of the cable. We went back to the RV and put on our jeans and jackets since it was going down to 54 degrees tonight. We found a cool rodeo...

May 12, 2011 - Granbury, TX

Well we couldn't take the terrible KOA in Dallas anymore so we headed 50 miles West towards the Wakesport Ranch to Cresson, TX which is 5 miles from a very cool town called Granbury. It is a real Texas town with a square court house, town hotel, shops, an opera house even tumble weeds. The town has a nice lake running threw it with nice homes and several marinas and watering holes. Nothing fancy just laid back Texas living. We passed some huge ranches coming out HWY 377. The graveyard here supposedly houses the infamous Jesse James. The...

Jan 25, 2009 - Travel day to Granbury Texas

After breaking camp and visiting the dump site we hit road for Granbury, Texas. The time was 8:31 am and the temperate was 27 degrees. We have some friends from the Washington, DC area that flew with Doug in the Civil Air Patrol, Henry and Lola, that live in the Granbury area. Travel was uneventful and it turned out that Henry and Lola live in a place called Pecan Plantation. We learned that the name was appropriate as the place has hundreds if not thousands of acres of Pecan orchards in and around it. We contacted Henry inbound and Henry...

March 18, 2008 We arrive in Granbury, TX. Bennet's RV Center. We are here to have some warranty work performed on the MS. We learn that parts have to be ordered and decide to stay in the park located at this dealership. In fact, while the MS is in the shop, we make a little tour of downtown Granbury, TX. This a very attractive place and the area has lots of offer. When we returned to the dealership we discover that our MS is all set up on a site. I am amazed at this. We enjoy our stay here, the dealership was great with the warranty...

Mar 6, 2008 - Fort Worth

Today we headed into Fort Worth to do some visiting with family and friends. We visited Sharon (Taylor) Al & Herb's first cousin. Al had not seen Sharon since her wedding 26 years ago. Herb & I visited with her about 21 or 22 years ago when our daughter Cindy lived in Dallas. What a good visit we had with Sharon and here daughter Mary (16). After our visit with Sharon in Arlington, TX we went west to Fort Worth, in a snow storm, to get a visit with the Welborn families. The Welborn family were such good friends of ours when their mother &...

Apr 12, 2002 - Week End in Granbury - With Dallas Area Friends

On Friday I drove up from Austin in my Chinook to spend the week end in Granbury with Carrollton church friends. I really miss them. The Associate Pastor, Billy Abbe, loves to plan trips and outings for the adults. We always have a good time. They were staying in the Arbor House Bed and Breakfast. The B&B manager allowed me to park my Chinook behind the main house – at no charge. Such a nice surprise! Friday evening we walked around the square and made a brief stop Granbury Live, which offers professionally cast, costumed and choreographed...

Jan 19, 2001 - 1997 April 19 - Granbury

Today I drove to Granbury to explore its historic section, to visit the railroad depot and city park and to look for wildflowers. In 1974 the Square was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Department of the Interior described this historic place as "One of the most complete examples of a late 19th century courthouse square in Texas". The restoration of the 1891 Hood County Courthouse sparked interest in restoring Granbury's square. Historic buildings on the square house fine antique shops, gift shops, art galleries and...
