March 11, 2008 We hit the Alpine art scene in the morning, walking down a couple of blocks into several stores. We parked in front of the Holland Hotel, another fine hotel built in Alpine in 1012 by a wealthy rancher. It was a sunny, cool day so we walked around downtown Alpine. We saw some large murals depicted life in and around Alpine. I had not known that in 1947 Alpine had a minor league baseball team called the Alpine Cowboys. A man named Kokernot had brought the team to Alpine and built the stadium they played in that now...

Dec 14, 2007 - Fort Clark Springs, Brackettville, Texas

Had a good journey northwest from Brownsville to Zapata yesterday. Steve made great time driving and I actually slept for an hour and a half!!! Really can't believe how much I am sleeping over here. For someone who managed for about 3 years on anywhere between 2 and 4 hours, to be sleeping at least 8 hours through the night and then again for a while in the day is absolutely amazing. Must be relaxed and enjoying the fresh air!!! Arrived at the RV park which is nice and very cheap at $8 for the night full hook up! We have a nice view, it is...
