Jan 24, 2017 - Texas
We woke up this morning to a majorly windy day. Took a 2 block walk to the gulf and it was pretty wicked out there. We had thought we would stay another day but decided that it wouldn't be too nice here so we headed back west. We stopped at one fruit stand but couldn't understand the guy there so picked another one and there was actually an english speaking woman there, got to sample a few different kind of oranges and decided on Texas navels, they aren't pretty but very good. There were a lot of border patrols out and got stopped three...

Jan 21, 2017 - Texas
It was an early start but then we lost an hour along the way so it is the same time as home. We went on I 10 fort stockton and then 285 and then90 and 277. It was boring for awhile and then got very pretty. We stopped at Langtry and toured the Judge Roy Bean museum, there was also an awesome catus garden. Also stopped at a huge bridge across the Pecos River. We put on 510 miles and it was very very windy but the temp got over 70. The hotel is nice but I think we will be hearing there sign flapping in the wind all night

Mar 12, 2015 - Travel On
Paul is on a mission. I haven't been feeling well for a few days. The Texas Crud finally caught up with me. All the people in the RV Park had been passing it around and WE both had managed to stay healthy. My luck that I would get it about the time we were ready to travel. I digress!!! We got up early and left Eagle Pass at 8:35 and headed N. on 277. Good news...we have sunshine. We passed through El Rio at 10:30 where we stopped and gassed up. couldn't resist getting out to stretch and soak up some sunshine. Yay!!!!!! It rained a lot in...

Feb 19, 2011 - Del Rio - A Visit to Eagle Pass
This has really been a nice, relaxing week for us. We have already done most of the sightseeing in our previous visits here and this has afforded us time to do more things around the coach, do some future trip planning and rest up readying for our busy week in San Antonio next week when we have ourselves pretty much set up with back to back medical appointments. Despite several admonishments about going to Eagle Pass, we still went. Now this does NOT mean we don’t listen to our friend’s advise about border towns, but we knew we wouldn’t...

Mar 3, 2010 - Day #17
Enjoyed a pleasant drive from Falcon S.P. to Eagle Pass this afternoon. The best and worst of S Texas scenery all a little drabby because of the late spring. Tried to illustrate what most of the country looks like. We received our first inspection by the Border Patrol at a station coming out of Laredo, very serious complete with leashed sniffing dog and the works. Little towns like Eagle Pass have grown beyond their limits because of the huge industrial parks just over the border in Mexico. Management & supervisory staff live on the US side...

Nov 28, 2007 - Leaving Mexico
We left Sabinas at 8pm and fueled up for the drive back to Lone Star Corral. I also filled up my propane tank as it was getting low, plus I wanted to use up as many pesos as I could. The next stop was near Piedras Negras for military checks of the vehicle. Then over to the parking lot for the exit stamp on my passport and to turn in my tourist documents and to have the hologram removed from my RV. The hologram is good for 10 years but if I sell this RV I have to go back to Mexico to have it removed. Otherwise, if I try to enter in the...

Dec 27, 2006 - Triple R Ranch
We are heading South today toward Mission. Our trip is pretty easy but it takes longer than expected. Our stop for the next couple of nights is at Triple R Ranch near Chrystal City for a little R & R. The ranch is a working ranch raising cattle and goats. The Nueces River runs through the ranch and the RV spots are along the river. The people are friendly and the facilities are very nice. The ranch is in a pretty remote area and there are lots of deer and birds. Walking in the evening we see two great horned owls perched way before dark....
