May 7, 2019 - Corsicana, Texas

Today we travel north and west across Texas. Two and a half hours can be a long drive for us. It helps if the roads and weather are good and there is little traffic. Today is a good day. We travel north to Rusk on a great divided four lane highway. We see forests. I see signs that say we are on the forest trail. Makes sense. We parallel the Texas Railroad from Rusk to Palestine. The train ride would have been a relaxing ride between the two towns through the forest. I guess we didn’t miss much. After making our midway stop in Palestine, we...

Apr 14, 2016 - Walmart in Corsicana TX

We spent a night in the Walmart... we have done this a few times to minimize cost. The story here was our 4th run in with a rock to the windshield. We had the passenger side glass completely replaced in Mesa AZ only to find that it leaked like a sieve once we hit some rain. Also picked up a new rock today... having that repaired tomorrow. Saw some interesting signage, see pics.

Oct 5, 2011 - OMG...that's all I have to say about that!

Rookie mistakes 2 and 3 made today! We underestimated how long it takes to unhook and hook up the jeep...we pulled out 1.5 hours late. And since we went 2 hours out if our way to avoid traffic and construction, we didn't make it home today. Mistake #3...not having good directions...got lost finding this place, narrow winding roads, unexpected detours...makes for a very scary drive. Drinking a beer and trying to breathe now!

Nov 12, 2009 - Corsicana, Early Oil Town

After Vicksburg, we spent two nights in Shreveport, LA. Mainly, it was to get the house cleaned and some laundry done, since the machine was back in commission after being fixed in Red Bay. Contrary to what we usually do, we drove mostly on I20. It was a good highway and US 80 wasn't. We left I20 at Kilgore, TX, and headed southwest on Texas 31 to Corsicana. We arrived there to find a delightful town with lots of really interesting history. We went there to participate in a Rotary RV Fellowship rally. This Texas group does a rally quarterly...

May 13, 2008 - Shreveport, LA

We left Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX yesterday and made it to Corsicana, TX where we stopped to spend the night. Then we were on the road early again today. We arrived in Shreveport, LA at about 11:30 and got checked in at Barksdale AFB to spend the night. Made a quick trip to the commissary to get some fresh fruit and veggies. Right after we got back and got the car hooked back up, it started to rain. Glad we got back when we did. It is still raining.
