Apr 6, 2017 - Should we look for South Fork?

First off, a few things we forgot in our post of our drive to San Antonio. We went through a Homeland Security check and one officer with a dog walked around the bus while the other came in. First he asked if it was ok, then he just stood on the second step and poked his head around. He was more interested in looking at the bus as he wants to buy one! It was a quick stop, thankfully. While driving, the speed limit on the highway was 75 mph or 125 kph! We stuck at 65 or less, the RV doesn’t need to go that fast. Also, we’ve seen a few tow...

Apr 24, 2014 - Day 4 - Little Rock, Arkansas to Caddo Mills, TX

Thursday morning, 5 a.m., we are both up and moving!!!! (You did catch the BOTH part, right?) We were sitting at the Freightliner repair shop at 6:40 and were obviously first in line. When the AC guy showed up at 7 Dan was ready and waiting to sign in. However, the guy said three people had parked their coaches there yesterday and he had to fix them first!! Didn't matter that Dan had been told, "First come, first served." He could maybe get to us by 10 or 10:30. With the weather looking ominous for Little Rock today, we decided to get...

May 21, 2013 - Scary storm!

Tuesday Caddo Mills, TX Dallas NE Campground This morning we watched numerous people pull out of the RV park very early. Our discussions centered around where are they going to get away from the oncoming storms? West and North-run right in to it, South and East-get hit overnight, no way to outrun it. We mulled the idea of leaving but could not determine a safe place to go so we decided to stay right where we were and hope for the best. Later in the afternoon the radar showed a thin line of storms approaching but there were no watches or...

May 20, 2013 - Only a memory

Monday Caddo Mills, TX Dallas NE Campground Today was disappointing. We drove to the location of the Mary of Puddin Hill retail store but it has shut the doors on their retail store. The place is deserted and neglected. We discovered their competitor, world renowned fruit cake producer out of Corsicanna, Texas, Collin Street Bakery, has opened a retail store a short distance from the Mary of Puddin Hill store location. We decided to stop in since we are both familiar with the Corsicanna bakery. We bought a tiny Apricot Pecan Cake, some of...

5/19/2013 Sunday Arlington, TX to Caddo Mills, TX 70 miles Dallas NE Campground This morning we did the usual preparation for travel and when we were almost ready to leave Ron went to the office to pay the electric bill. I was finishing up everything and realized Ron had been gone for a very long time and that he did not have his phone with him. At just about the time I was worried enough to call the office Ron returned. His delay was due to meeting a man in the office that he had worked with at the police department in the 1980’s. The...

Mar 23, 2012 - Friday March 23, 2012

Friday, we got downtown at 10:00 am, got parked. Today we are going to the Tower of America, Buckhorn Saloon and Museum for sure. It never fails, Candy had to go to Court, as you see I got her picture coming out of the court house. Something about her papers not in order. First stop we walked about 4 miles, I rode, over to the Tower of America and rode to the top. What a nice view of San Antonio. It was clear and you could see for miles. This was built in 1968 for the Worlds Fair that was held in San Antonio. The observation deck is...

Mar 22, 2012 - Thursday March 22, 2012

Wednesday we left Caddo Mills Texas after a big wind storm during the night. Thought we were in another tornado like the one at Hidden Lake. The drive to San Antonio Texas was not bad, the weather was good other then the wind on the first half of the drive. We got into the KOA in San Antonio Texas around 3:00 pm and got everything set up at the site. We decided to drive downtown and check the place out. Not very far from downtown, about 15 minutes and we were in the heart of San Antonio. The Riverwalk was our place we wanted to see, so...

We left Hot Springs early to avoid the storms that are predicted for this afternoon. We drove in rain all day but still made our stop at Texarkana Arkansas and got pictures of the post office/court house on the state line. My lovely wife got out in the rain and took these pictures. Stopped for the night in Caddo Mills, Texas at the Koa.

Feb 15, 2008 - January-March Trip

Since we change locations so often, I decided to create this page so that everyone will know where we are. The year started off in Atlanta. From Atlanta Ed went to Michigan to build a Lane Bryant. As everyone knows we had some unfortunate happenings in January. Ed left Michigan to be with me in Delaware. We left Delaware to head back to Michigan to pick up the coach and then drive to Texas. It was an experience. On the way here the weather was bad (snow, rain, sleet, and WIND)!! We finally made it to Caddo Mills January 28th. What a great...
