Continuing on I-10 we had a little trouble in Austin finding the right highway we wanted to take to stay off the Interstate. Most of the roads/freeways in and around Austin are under construction and very poor signage which really screws up GPS. After over an hour delay, we arrived at Houston West RV Park in Brookshire. Not a terrible park, but many, many speed bumps which are so hard on the RV. This town is a bedroom community of Houston, TX.

Sep 16, 2017 - Damage From Hurricane Harvey

My entire drive today was on I10W . From Lake Charles, LA. to Brookshire,TX. there was collected litter alongside the highway. Couches, rugs, and assorted household items piled up in heaps. Some of the landscaping was dead or smacked down from wind and water. Many of the hotels are completely occupied by people who have lost their homes. Spoke to two women who lived through the event and they were describing not only life as the hurricane passed through but how they couldn't work for four days afterward and the impact of loss of income for...

Mar 26, 2010 - Brookshire, TX

We are at the Houston West RV Park in Brookshire, TX (just west of Houston) and will be here for the next 2 days. We are very slowly making our way out of Texas. The weather is beautiful. Brookshire has two rather unique things to see. One is a T-Rex dinosaur made of steel automobile wheels welded together. It once was part of a zoo attraction that has long since closed. The other is a clever guard shack at the Igloo Cooler factory near town. It is in the shape of a cooler. They wouldn't let us into the Igloo factory store because it was...
