It rained last night, big time. When we're at home, we don't even hear the rain as the house is so heavily insulated, but when all you have over your head is a fiberglass shell, a hard rain sounds like a drummer gone crazy. The thunder adds to the illusion. It rained so hard that water blew in through the furnace and puddled on the kitchen floor. But as a result, it was a little cooler this morning. Apr 2, 2012 - An Inauspicious Start

Yesterday morning, having done what we could do to get the yard and flower beds in shape (two years of neglect really can't be cured in a week or two), we got packed and headed out. First we just thought Louisiana and Texas had some of the worst roads we had ever encountered, but finally realized that the bumping noise stayed the same when the roads changed.
