May 2, 2016 - Cousin Austin II and his wife Nana

We drove to Beeville to have lunch with my (Mike) cousin Austin II and his wife Nana. They own a very large cattle ranch in Beeville. They have had a lot of rain this year which is very welcome. NOTE: subsequent to our lunch we learned that Nana has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is in need of all the prayers you can send her way. Thank you

Tuesday February 19…10:00pm Although we both slept well last night, we both woke up early this morning. There was quite a bit of truck traffic around the Walmart we were parked at in Laredo, Texas but most of it was other truckers who were sleeping. Not very noisy at all, and when we started our engine at about 6:15am, we were pretty much the first ones. One day took us on a journey back into my past and a place I once lived and worked for Uncle Sam. I lived in Beeville for about a year before being moved to Kingsville, and still worked at the Navy Base some in Beeville after moving south. I left Beeville in 1976 to fill a position at the Navy Base in Kingsville. Both bases were pilot and air related training bases and housed large numbers of young military personnel, both enlisted and officer. Both were very busy with jets circling overhead constantly sometimes 24 hours a day with pilots...
