This ghost town is a strange little place with only a convenience store, post office, and a few residences. At its peak in 1915, Scenic had a population of 155. It was once a booming town in the Badlands for people traveling from Rapid City but now the saloon is long empty and the roadside jail cells are rusted. Twila Merrill, a longtime resident and area rodeo legend, sold the 46 acres of Scenic that she owned to an unusual buyer for $800,000.
