Oct 7, 2011 - And I'm in
Got my Vietnamese visa today in the mail!! Guess I'm really going now. Arrive November 19th and don't have to leave the country until February 19th. Thinking about starting in Hanoi, heading north and trekking in the villages around Sapa, then lounging around in Ha Long bay. I don't know what's in store after that, but now that my arrival documents are in order, I can't wait to get on that plane!Jump to full entry
Oct 6, 2011 - Ouch!
Shots, shots and more shots...We got vaccinated today and as much fun as that was at least I only had to get three, Micah meanwhile had to get six!! Three in each arm :( And now writing about it four hours later I can't lift my left arm above my shoulder. Oh well, I guess it's better than getting typhoid or yellow fever. Plus the Charlie Brown band-aids are pretty cute.Jump to full entry
Sep 28, 2011 - No turning back now!!
Tickets are bought!! There's no turning back now!! Oh man what did I sign myself up for? I guess it's natural to freak out, yes? So excited and scared and nervous and just plain freaking out about everything. Still have to arrange for a visa, but the one way plane ticket to Vietnam and our hostel for three nights is booked. Everytime I pick up a guide book or look up destinations to go in Vietnam I just can't believe that I'll be there in a few months seeing those amazing places. Just a quick side trip to Mexico (where I hopefully don't...Jump to full entry
Sep 24, 2011 - 2011 Roller Coaster
Oh what a roller coaster adventure this year has been for me!! I started 2011 in San Francisco, living with someone and comfortable in my job, yet through crazy twists and turns that life likes to throw your way I ended up back in Oregon, living at my cousins (again), working at my old job (again) and trying to figure out what my next step would be. I thought maybe Bend, maybe Utah, maybe even Portland. But no, I've opted for the unplanned, crazy out of my mind decision to travel the world for an undetermined amount of time. What am I...Jump to full entry
Mar 28, 2010 - Final Preparation - 10 days before departure
Last night we attended a wonderful English style dessert party hosted by the Schwab Family for the several families/groups heading to Europe from our congregation the next few weeks. We were treated to maps, guide books, pictures, food and other wonderful travel information to help make the most of our trip. Unfortunately, none of us will be crossing paths at the same time even though many of us will be visiting the same places. I have to admit, I am extremely nervous..... I am hoping that as soon as we actually begin the trip I can attempt...Jump to full entry
Mar 12, 2010 - Bryon & Candice's Family
From Toledo, Wa. to Tigard, Oregon. Decided on a state park not to far from the kids. Champoeg State Park. Really nice, clean, paved and winter prices of $16 a night. It was pretty drive back and forth to Bryon & Candice's. Had dinner with them at their apartment on Friday evening, played a game and enjoyed catching up. The babies are all good, Daisy Boo, Bear (the newest), guinea pigs, chinchillas, several fish tanks and a tortoise. They all have names and I have a hard time remembering them. They are excellent pet parents. Saturday, 13th,...Jump to full entry
Feb 28, 2009 - Tigard, Oregon
Left Federal Way and Headed for Tigard, Oregon. We bought a chair on the way, in Vancouver. John's bum was getting tired of the uncomfortable one we had, so a very small recliner was purchased and he has a happy bum and a smile on his face. Happy Birthday, John. Had dinner with Bryon and Candice at Davidson Restaurant in Tigard where they served us each Cherry Pie with ice cream for $.22 each. Such a deal. Camped at an RV Park right behind Bryon's store, "Petsmart" in Tualatin. Just hanging out with the kids today and tomorrow. The kids are...Jump to full entry
