We left Weed the morning of May 9th and travel north on US 97 for 100 miles to Collier Memorial State Park which is about 30 miles north of Klamath Falls, Or. We had reservations for four nights at this park. Wow! What a park, it was extremely well managed and maintained, a very pleasant place to stay. We hiked along Spring Creek to the Logging Museum, drove to Crater Lake, which had just opened, however we could not drive around the lake because of the deep snow still on the ground. Sep 25, 2011 - Collier Memorial State Park, OR

We traveled back over the Cascades and down Route 97 to Collier Memorial State Park located on the Williamson River and its Spring Creek tributary. Collier also has an outdoor museum of historic logging equipment. The equipment is arranged in the manner typical of an old logging camp. The museum’s donkey steam engines, skidding and railroad equipment, smaller tools and a variety of machinery are displayed year-round, weather permitting.
