Jul 31, 2018 - Toledo KOA

Not the best of days. First we drove on I80/90 toll road through Indiana that was smooth until we reached Elkhart. it was just awful from there to the Ohio line, even with the new airbags and Koni shocks it was full of potholes and very rough. Can’t imagine how much worse it could have been without those improvements. The next disappointment is this campground. We were supposed to have a site open for satellite. We are surrounded by trees but somehow got 110 and 119 to come in. Not level but with new air pump and bags we are holding our...

Aug 25, 2017 - Getting closer to Niagara Falls New York

On the way to Indiana and Ohio. We drove through Indiana on the toll road, no stopping except for a much needed “rest stop” at one of their plaza’s near Elkhart Indiana. It’s funny because that is where our 5th wheel was made. Another day without ice cream, but soon we hope to have ice cream. We spent the night at Toledo East - Stoney Ridge KOH in Perrysburg OH. Nice little campground. We drove around the Toledo Ohio area, got gas at Costco and found a place we could see Lake Erie. This was our first sight of any of the great lakes.

May 18, 2015 - Days 1 and 2 - Pennsylvania and Ohio

May 17-18, 2015 – Days 1 and 2 - On the Road Again! Well…it’s that time again…the adventure begins. Nine years ago, we got in the RV (Pottsluck) and began our adventure to Alaska and back. Yesterday, we started our voyage North to the Future (Alaska’s state motto), embarking on the Ultimate (RV) survival Alaska and to Alaska, the last frontier. We do not plan to be “Alaskan Bush People” nor do we plan to be “Buying Alaska” but we do hope to see Life Below Zero. Left Doylestown around 9:45 a.m.. Leslie and Carlie Adams came to see us off...

Apr 10, 2014 - April 9 Wed. Day:176

Apr. 9, 2014 - Day 176 It is Wed. & we are 1 1/2 hours from HOME. We left with the intention of going to Quincy, OH a 3 hour trip but I realized that it had no sewers & I needed to do a really good flush of all the tanks especially the black, so we decided to go an extra hour & we were going to Van Buren, OH. Did not happen; we got there & they had no water as the wells were being worked on, (I need water for the flushing), so we were looking at going straight home but we might not have gotten there until 6:30, so no. The cashier at the gas...

Apr 21, 2010 - Our adventure comes to an end

Our wonderful adventure to Greece is now over. We give thanks for so many things: the wonderful people we met along the way, the beauty of each place we visited, the nice weather, the smooth transportation and the grace-filled way God guided us step by step along the way. While in Greece we used many modes of transportation; planes, trains, high speed rail, trolley, taxi, local bus, intercity bus, ferry, subway and of course our feet. Each of the mass transportation modes was very clean and always on time. We also give thanks that our feet...

Aug 26, 2008 - Family, They Have To Love You...it's A Rule

Our first stop in Ohio was to see my family in Perrysburg. Perrysburg is a suburb of Toledo and was named in memory of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, who commanded US Naval forces on Lake Erie during the war of 1812 against the British (Yep, Aunt Anna Mae…I looked it up!). Perrysburg has a population of about 17,000 people (2000 census). My cousins decided to show us the true spirit of Ohio by taking us to the German-American festival in Oregon, Ohio. It is described as Toledo’s oldest, largest and greatest ethnic festival. This was the...

Jun 4, 2007 - Day Thirty Three

Thought there was an entry for yesterday but with the computer problem, don't rely on anything. Apparently Dave has gotten the other one fixed and can retrieve the files I lost on it - especially the pictures I had downloaded on it. Anyway, we are just a little east of Toledo, Ohio tonight. Unless you are on the Ohio Toll Pike, the rest of the roads are terrible. Pretty much the same in Pennsylvania. Really rough and shake you up a lot. And boy was the weather bad here in Ohio. One minute the sun was trying to shine and the next the sky was...
