Oct 11, 2015 - Wilson, NC

We left Asheville on Friday the 9th, after spending the previous day grazing on some awesome Blueberry Chipotle ribs at 12 Bones and spending a few hours visiting the many shops, etc. The drive to Wilson was longer that the average day for us, but it was problem free and all good. Saturday it rained all day so we stayed inside for a day of rest. Today we spent some quality time with Linda's relatives. Then, after much discussion, with consideration for many of your emails regarding our Charleston destination, we made a prudent decision to...

It was a very hot and humid day. We stayed indoors all day and did absolutely nothing except plan our next few stops. Tomorrow we travel to Clemmons, NC. After that we hope to go to a place where Ron can do some panning for gold and I can frolic in a cool mountain stream. We accomplished what we wanted to do today - mentally and physically take a break!

After so much fun the last two days and driving at least 500 miles just sightseeing around the Outer Banks, today was boring. We left the RV Park around 11am and drove 140 miles to Wilson, NC. Nothing exciting about Wilson, it's just a place to stop and catch our breath. No plans for tomorrow and then we head east on I-40 on Friday.

Nov 27, 2010 - OTRA - NC - Wilson

11/27/10 Not traveling very far today so left Gettysburg at 11:00 a.m. for the sunny drive to North Carolina. Byrd Mill Road to E Jack Jouett Road to VA-208 to I-64 E to VA 288 (to avoid Richmond, VA) then onto I-95. I know you all aren’t particularly interested on which roads we travel but I put these in for reference in case we come this way sometime in the future. I believe they used glass in the paving of I-95 in Virginia ‘cause it was all sparkly. Really neat in the daytime but it might be annoying at night. Of course, I guess the...

Nov 5, 2008 - Sitting in Wilson Tonight

We got a 9AM start this morning and drove 190 miles to spend the night in Wilson, NC. Nothing special about this campground except that it was only $22.50 for the night. It was about the half way point to Myrtle Beach and it was cheap. We will proceed to the beach tomorrow morning. The campground tomorrow will be 300 yards from the ocean with fishing piers and boardwalks. Hopefully we will enjoy our stay. The weather cooperated with our travels and the rain stopped this morning before we left. The sun is even shining a little this...
