fellow campers, we can't extoll Shenandoah River State Park (SRSP) enough. This week, added to the beauty of the park and high quality of the facilities was the addition of a good group of buddies to hang out with in the evening, and for coffee in the morning. Angie and Mary were in the campsite next to us and Ann was the campground host. We shared the last of the wild Nova Scotia blueberries with them and with the addition of a couple in another older Roadtrek camper we shared some campfire roasted fresh picked apples. Jun 19, 2014 - Raleigh-Durham & Falls Lake - Resting up!
Hard to imagine you can need a rest stop while on a 3 month road trip (I hate to say "vacation" since my old retired buddies tell me that every day of retirement is a vacation)- but the Raleigh-Durham-Wake Forest triangle area gave us an opportunity to recharge ourselves and just generally chill. Falls Lake State Recreation Area in Wake Forest, NC is a massive park around Falls Lake (just lake, NO falls) and it's nice to see facilities like this being provided by the state. Apr 16, 2013 - Tar Heels, Blue Devils and Krispy Creme...
Arrived safely at Falls Lake State Recreation Area in Wake Forest, NC, after a 3 hour trip, completing about 650 miles of our 3000 plus journey. Fun fact that North Carolina is the home of those delicious, sugary donuts we all know and love - Krispy Creme! Who would have thunk it! Of course, also home to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, the Duke Blue Devils, and several other fine universities.
