Nascar Adventure

Apr 6, 2010 - I-95, Day 2 - SC and NC

March 31 We left Golden Isles at 9:07 AM. It was a gorgeous day with temps running into the 80s. I-95 through SC hasn't improved much. We lost a hub cap on one of the rear duals - most likely over the broken and bumpy concrete on I-95 in SC. We had a long wait in stopped traffic due to an accident up the road. I believe it was in NC that we encountered a Mobile Suite in the breakdown lane with a flat tire. We stopped and offered assistance but they were on the phone with roadside assistance and seemed to be all set. They had an '05 and...

Aug 26, 2009 - Missed our mark

Yesterday we were looking for a campground close to my nieces house in Calypso and finally settled for one in Smithfield. Missed Calypso by about 34 miles. Also my sister lives in Seven Springs, which is another 15 miles. So by the time we got to both of their homes, visited a while, stopped and ate it was late by the time we got back to the coach. Today we had to make a run to Wal-Mart, my niece came and picked us up and we went to lunch at Applebees and came back to do laundry. This is another beautiful KOA campground. Hardly nobody here...

Apr 23, 2008 - Another Leg and Tire on our Way to Smithfield KOA

After sleeping like two logs. We didn't even get to see who was kicked off Dancing with the Stars. If you know, let us know, please. We plugged in the Bagel Toaster, got a couple of Specialty coffees from the coffee shop had a nice breakfast and then hit the road again. We were just about a mile from 'Pedro's South of the Border', smiling (I was anyway) about being to motor right by that shop of junk. When this "Idiot" drove by us waving his arms at me. He then dove directly in front of me and flashed his break lights over and over. Well...

Jul 30, 2007 - Day 2

Hi Again: This time we are writing from Smithfield, North Carolina. True, we did not go far today, but the aim of our journey is to take a relaxing trip to Florida and home again. We started off today, leaving Cherry Hill Campground about around 7:30 AM. We are going to see if there is a RV Center, that will answer our questions about the brakes. No more trouble with them this morning. There is a Camping World facility in Manassass, Virginia that we are going to search out for assistance. Today just a few showers while driving. The Vehicle...

The Anniversary Trip

Jun 26, 2007 - Back to Maryland

We left Keystone Heights Monday morning - Donnie had gone to work, Jessie was in school, Zach & Mason were off to camp, and Heather was leaving to drop Gage & Genna at daycare on her way in to work. It was time for us to get on our way, too. Monday was Drew's birthday - he is now officially a senior citizen! Too bad he had to spend the whole day driving. We did stop at an Outback Steak House to celebrate the occasion, however. We spent the night (a warm one!) at our home park (Wal-Mart) in North Carolina. Tuesday we got back to Silver...
