Aug 29, 2011 - Bass Lake RV Resort Salisbury, NC

We stopped in Salisbury to get the RV serviced at Bill Plemmons RV. We also had some new rims that we needed to get changed. Two of our old rims had developed pin-hole leaks within a month. I wanted four new rims as I did not trust the remaining 3 rims. KZ agreed and sent us four new rims. Salisbury is a older NC town and had some interesting old buildings. Unfortunately I did not get any photos of the town. Maybe next time we come through.

Dec 3, 2010 - Old town and trains

We had a few issues with the coach which could not wait until we went to Tiffin in Alabama so we organised ourselves to visit a Tiffin dealer in Salisbury, Virginia. While the coach was being worked we explored the local town of Salisbury. Our first stop was the downtown. After a quick visit to local tourist information office we followed part of the historic tour of the downtown. The area was first settled by the Irish, Scots and Germans. The township of Salisbury was established in 1755. The town was twice occupied by enemy troops once by...

Jun 28, 2010 - Salisbury NC

Yesterday we left the Fort Bragg area heading sort of north west to Salisbury, NC. We had made reservations a few weeks ago for a Western Horizon/R.O.D. RV park to make sure we were settled into a campground over Independence Day weekend. The roads that got us there were rural roads, but even though they were two lanes, the speeds were high on them and easy driving. Some hills, some curves and some long straight stretches passing farm lands ready for planting, more bright yellow landscape and an amusing pioneer statue holding the American...

Nov 27, 2009 - Gem Mining

We had a great trip to a "Gem Mine" in Salisbury, North Carolina. Olivia and Jack sifted through dirt to find colored stones (a.k.a. gems)...just the way it was done in the 1900's when panning for gold! Park included a petting zoo area, a carousel and a train ride. Kudos to Kristina for fining this gem (pun intended.... it was fun, easy for adults & kids and, not crowded!)

Aug 23, 2009 - Dolesville

We stopped here to meet with a customer, and it was conveniently located near family. Chose to stay at Bass Lake RV Park instead of Van Hoy like last year because there were more amenities. They have free WIFI and better cell coverage, too. Price was similar if I recall correctly. Why "Dolesville"? Because this is where Senator Elizabeth Dole is from and currently lives. There are a few other trivia items about Salisbury, but I'll let you find those out for yourself.

May 23, 2008 - ROD Bass Lake, Salisbury, N.C.

It was a long drive, by RV standards, yesterday. Starting out at 9:40, driving 322 miles and parking at this resort at 5:30. The only monotonous part was the freeway part from Greenville, S.C. to Salisbury, N.C. on I-85. Before Greenville we drove the "big red" roads of the countryside. Though alittle slower, by not much, the real United States and it's people and place be seen. This resort has a small well stocked lake, all fish are to be caught and released back to the lake. They're trying to build up the population of fishes, which...
