After 2 1/2 weeks, we left Virginia and headed into North Carolina. After enjoying the Wright Brothers exhibit at the Smithsonian in DC, we decided to go to the site where the Wright Brothers made their famous first flight. The museum also paid tribute to other great people in aviation history such as: Charlie Taylor (1st airplane mechanic), Cal Rodgers (1st US Transcontinental Flight in 1911 in the "Vin Fiz" which took 49 days; we saw his plane in DC, too); Walter Brookins (1st Civilian Pilot in 1910); and, Rear Admiral Richard Byrd (1st...

35 32.2 N 76 37.3 W Belhaven Marina Center, NC (mile 135 of 1,022) So you might ask where the heck is Belhaven, NC? God's honest truth is I really do not know. If you can find it on a map please let us know. There cannot be more than 500 people in the area. We were warned that there is a bad area of town. Well more specifically it is the bad 'corner' in town on our way back to the boat. Not at all threatening!
