Oct 26, 2014 - One Last Waterfall
At this point, everybody was ready to quit. But Sandy and I are true waterfall heroes and we weren't done yet - there's always time for one more waterfall. So just the two of us, continued heading east on the highway and got off I-40 in Morganton and headed to South Mountains State Park. Fall color was peaking at these lower elevations, so it wasn’t surprising that the park was very crowded. Upon leaving Sims, we drove to Morganton North Carolina, we spent the night with Chris and Andrea Daley and their family. We parked our RV in their driveway, we had a wonderful time reminiscing and just having a great time. We share pictures of Kody's Godmother who we met in St. John's Newfoundland.Jump to full entry
Jul 12, 2009 - The End!
Dear Friends and Family, Well, I have been home now since June 27th and wanted to take some time to think about my adventure before I wrote this last entry. I drove 2.5 days from Jackson, Wyoming to Morganton with an overnight in Lincoln, NE and Nashville, TN.Arrived back in Morganton on Sunday, June 27th at 2:30 pm. Here are some trip FACTS: 13,700 miles in 6 weeks! 1- Windshield 3- Oil Changes 1.5- bars of soap Half tube of toothpaste 21-Bags of Ice for the Ice Chest (plus some snow and ice from various glaciers and mountain ridges) 2...Jump to full entry
May 2, 2009 - Two weeks to go!
Dear Friends and Family Less than two weeks to departure! I've bought most everything I need for my trip and tomorrow will attempt to pack the car as a practice session before the real deal. Apr 9, 2009 - 5 Weeks Until Departure
It is about 5 weeks until my anticipated departure. My itinerary has been set and now ALL I have to do is prepare for the trip. I have purchased a 2005 Subaru Outback with 45,000 miles. I have installed a satellite radio receiver and purchased a cargo carrier for the roof to transport camping gear. I have tested my SPOT satellite tracking system and it works perfectly. Jul 6, 2008 - Finally Home!
We arrived home yesterday from Nashville about 5:00 pm. We stopped in Asheville to eat supper, since the Putnam refrigerator was empty! The dogs were happy to see us, and the feeling was mutual! We had such a wonderful time, and hope you enjoyed seeing a glimpse of our vacation! It was tiring, but soooo worth it! In fact, Savannah has just now gotten out of bed (It's 12:45) and Kyle is still asleep! Back to the real world tomorrow....Jump to full entry
