LUMBERTON KOA CAMPGROUND...Lumberton,NC Friday Up bright and early this morning and left the campground before 10AM. Made a fuel stop right at the on ramp to I95 south....and the price was $1.88. Shortly after, we were boogeing down the interstate. Made a lunch stop at the North Carolina Welcome Center. Had done a little over 100 miles by then. Were driving in light to moderate rain most of the time. The spray coming off the road back of vehicles, especially large trucks, creates a lot of glare and makes it difficult to pick out details...

ONE MORE TIME

Oct 22, 2013 - Heading South

SLEEPY BEARS CAMPGROUND LUMBERTON,NC TUESDAY The alarm went off at 0715 this morning. Time to get up, get things ready to move. We had done everything by 9:30 and left the KOA. Down US1 4 miles, and into a Citgo station to top off the coach gas tank. We rolled onto I95 at 1005 for an easy 298 miles drive. The weather was cloudy, and cool. Good day to drive. We made the North Carolina welcome center shortly aftet 12 and stopped there for lunch in our dining room. Lots of motor homes in the truck parking area. More of them than trucks. A...

Clarence and I will be joining a tour group when we get to Maine. We will be the "tail enders" for the group. One of the jobs is for Clarence to help trouble shoot any RV problems along the way. His first assignment was in our driveway. The night before we left our step broke and our RV friends know that you can't drive with the step out and you can't get out easily if the step is in all the time. It was too late to try to get it repaired so he rigged a rope to open and close it by hand and put a block of wood in it to hold it in place. We...

Feb 24, 2013 - Spring in NC

The sun came out as we travelled through NC today and we found what we were looking for warmer temperatures. It was in the mid-50's. NC is not too far from spring as the daffodils are blooming on the roadsides and trees are beginning to bud. I forgot to buy coffee when we visited WalMart yesterday so there wasn't any for breakfast this morning. No problem, we're on the east coast and there's usually a Dunkin' Donuts on every corner so I typed "Dunkin Donuts" into the GPS and several came up. I picked one that looked like it was close to I95...

Jun 2, 2012 - North Carolina to Maryand

No problems falling into a hard sleep last night. The morning dawns suny, bright and full of promise. Fortunately, the Freightliner customer service line is manned on Saturday mornings and we locate a couple of dealers along my route. The first is only 30 miles away and they are open; however, their service manager says he cannot work me into his schedule today. The second option is a dealer in Baltimore, MD that is set up to service motorhomes. They do not have weekend hours, but they are located only 22 miles from the campground where I...

May 22, 2009 beginning mileage 133278 at 8:30 a.m. Seem to have gotten quite a bit of rain last night, weather was cool and cloudy most of the day then the further north we got the sun came out. Decided to stop for a nice breakfast at Cracker Barrel, and had to of course stop by Wal Mart today as we needed a few things. We ended the day about 4:15 camping at Sleepy Bears Campground in Lumberton, NC, and the campground had a square dance group there for the weekend so we went down to the hall and watched them dance, was interesting watching...
