Dec 11, 2019 - One Day at a Time; the Sequel
Hello to all family and friends. We are headed out on the road again. (sing “On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson) We had returned to Cyndy’s house in Leland NC in late August and have been “mooching” ever since. Following a great Thanksgiving as well as the seasonal “Christmas Wreath” sales at Church, we are heading West again. Initial winter plans are to visit (Mooching again) Jeff in Tucson, with projects lined up such as a new roof, back-yard fence, and new floors. We hope to be able to add a second bathroom in the Tucson house some day,...Jump to full entry

Jun 4, 2018 - End of Year one!!!
Mike here. It is about 11 pm and we are about 3 hours travel time from Cyndy’s house, spending the evening in Columbia. (That’s the South Carolina Columbia!). It was a long, long day today and Emily took control of the Enterprise for a few hours. (please note the attached photo). Those long-long travel days seem to get longer and longer the closer we get to Leland. My uncle used to say there is no controlling the horse if she could smell the barn. Well…I had to tell Emily several times to “slow down…we’ll get there tomorrow!!! We are just a...Jump to full entry
Nov 28, 2017 - Prologue
Hello Friends, Welcome to our new travel blog “One day @ a time”. Back in 2015 when Emily and I had just retired and still had a permanent home, we took a 4 month round-the-country trip where we became hopelessly infected with the wanderlust bug. Many of you followed us on our “Taking the slow road” blog at that time. We no sooner got home and we began talking and planning to try “full timing” in the RV. (for a while at least!!) During a trip to SC for New Years this year, we made the decision to go ahead and do it now rather than wait till...Jump to full entry
Jul 30, 2015 - Epilogue by Mike
Hello all, It has been a few days since we have been home now, and while Emily was out to a swim meet with Cyndy's kids, I had time to contemplate our trip and any potential significance. In doing so, I have created an epilogue written from my perspective (assisted with a glass of wine or two). Good news is that when Emily read it she agreed that it is what she would say as well...so it is close to both of our thoughts. Here it is... Epilogue… Just arrived “home” following a 3.5 month trip around the US in a motor home. WOW!!!!!!! I have to...Jump to full entry
Jul 25, 2015 - "There's no place like home...there's no place like home..."
Well, I kinda figured this was going to happen y'all. Our original itinerary was to have us back in Leland on 01 Aug; however..............as soon as we crossed east of the Mississippi, Emily was hell-bent to get home!!!!! Yes we had committed ourselves to visiting my brother in WI as well as the Fosters in IN, but our focus had shifted to eastern NC and the grandkids. Last night (Friday) I had mentioned in the post that we were in western SC. Well Cyndy read that post on Saturday morning and called her mom at 7 am stating that she was...Jump to full entry
Sep 26, 2012 - On our way home.....
We left Walkins Glen, spent a couple of days in Lancaster (where we went a Sight & Sound production of Jonah). It was great. From Lancaster we will travel through MD (and get together with friends and family) and then will arrive in Leland on Tuesday. I've really not taken any significant pictures, so this will be my last entry in my journal. I hope everyone has enjoyed it.Jump to full entry
May 25, 2010 - 3 Days To We Hit The Road
Dinner at Joe's Restaurant, with John and Leslie (celebrating their 25th anniversary), must learn to carry our camera. Pictures are worth so much more than words. Herb and Brenda, Jack and Susie, Bob and Joyce. Good food, nice evening. Said our goodbyes and will see everyone in October when we get back. Earlier today was a haircut that will last for 4 months, and some shopping. Planned lunch with Susan today but did not work out. Susan look forward to seeing you in October. If the house sells, do not fire your agent, I will figure out how...Jump to full entry
