We spent the cold night at Price Park. A good campfire helped us stay warm and we cooked steak and onion shish kabobs over the fire. When we woke, a few friends left to hike Grandfather Mountain, but we chose an less strenuous itinerary. We hiked from the campsite along the Boone Fork Trail at at Price Park. We went out about 2 miles to Hebron Colony, a rock formation along the Boone Fork, also called Hebron Falls. Sandy and I got engaged here about a year ago and it was great to visit again. Age trumps youth - thanks to plate tectonics - Tuesday, June 2 We are camped at the Linville Falls Campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We’ve seen a lot of waterfalls lately but they never get old, so this morning we took the two mile hike to see Linville Falls before moving on. There are a number of overlooks on both sides of the river, and we were looking at the map to see which way we wanted to go when an intense little woman at the Visitor Center told us “You don’t need a map if you just follow my instructions.” She proceeded to give...
