May 22, 2011 - Brick City Sams Rally

Sunday morning was again sunny and warm. Our hosts prepared breakfast breads, fruit, fruit juice, and coffee for our enjoyment. Then Preacher Paul brought a message about worry and how it affects us both mentally and physically. There is a difference in worry and concern and we must learn to turn to God to take care of our worries for us. Sally sang a solo before the message and led a hymn afterwards. President Bobby again thanked our hosts and presented them with host pins. All agreed that Dennis and Ann had done an "over the top" job of...

May 21, 2011 - Brick City Sams Rally

Saturday morning featured a pancake breakfast. Some folks left to go sightseeing or shopping and others stayed at the campground all day. We stayed at the campground. It was sunny and hot (upper 80s) and the cicadas were happy. Chapter President Bobby held a business meeting at 5:00 p.m. After business meeting, we had supper, which featured BBQ ribs, grilled chicken, and the famous Hearne's BBQ. Hmmm! Gertrude decided to go home after supper so she could attend her church Sunday. We hope you enjoy the photos, posted in random order.

May 20, 2011 - Brick City Sams Rally, Jordan Lake

The Brick City Sams Chapter met at Vista Point at Jordan Lake outside Pittsboro for their May rally. Dennis and Ann hosted the event. We arrived on Friday about 11:00 am with our motor home. We set up the coach and visited with other chapter members. This was our first time camping at Jordan Lake and our first time with Brick City Sams. We have been members of the chapter for several years and have attended three NC Samborees, but this was the first opportunity to attend one of the rallies. There were 12 RVs in attendance, including some...

Jun 23, 2008 - 8 days at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

We just completed 8 days at Jordan Lake with the trailer and the boat. It's close enough to the house we can drive over and still aford to come back to the house and water the garden, or get supplies etc. We only used about a half a tank of diesel the whole time, and that included a trip to Chapel Hill for the wedding dinner on Saturday. Not bad with the high cost of fuel. The biggest expense was the week of camping and the boat's fuel, but sure beats traveling a distance to do this. We live in a great area where recreation is only 17 miles...

Jun 13, 2008 - A couple of days on Jordan Lake

We haven't put any entries in the journal recently because we aren't traveling much. With the cost of diesel, we are planning our trips carefully as most people are. We're sticking pretty close to home now, and probably will with the trailer and truck for a while. If we have to go somewhere far, we'll probably just drive the car. Anyway this weekend we went to Jordan Lake and road our boat around the lake. I practiced my driving a little with it. It's going to take me a while to get up to speed and feel comfortable driving a boat again....
