May 30, 2009 - Cape Hatteras

Spent the morning around the campsite and then went to the village of Hatteras. It's where we catch the ferry to Ocracoke on Sunday. It has a beautiful harbour full of sport fishing boats that take you fishing for marlin, etc out in the Gulf Stream. About 0-30 miles offshore. Cost is 4240 for a trip that leaves at 7:00 AM and returns at 5:00 PM. Not a bad deal. You go with 5 other people. I'm considering putting my name on the list. May 29, 2009 - Frisco, NC

We didn't have far to go today so we had a walk on the beach after breakfast and left Waves around 11:00 AM. Arrived at Frisco at 11:30 AM. The landscape has changed as at this point the Outer Banks have widened and we have shifted to the “sound side” that is the inside or west shore. No big wide beaches and more trees. Still very pretty but more scrub vegetation. Lots of kite surfing. We watched people doing this all the way south on the drive. May 12, 2008 - Graveyard of the Atlantic

Comes the dawn! - Monday, May 12, 2008 Albeit still with strong winds rocking the coach. The clouds are racing past - this time headed east toward the rising sun. Ocracoke lies in an easterly direction with only a little tilt to the north. This means the ocean is south of us. Last night that ocean was the scene of quite a lightning storm, continuous flashes all over the horizon as the storm receded.
