Jul 16, 2016 - Traveling to Four Oaks, NC (?)

Another moving day. Today we are heading north towards Virginia Beach, VA, but don't want to push it so we will be going to Four Oaks, North Carolina. The drive was fine and smooth, lots of traffic but nothing to slow us down. We arrived at about 2 pm and got checked in at the Four Oaks RV Park. This park has about 10 mobile homes that are permanent and about 10 sites for RV's with 6 of them filled. Not much to see around here, so I worked on catching up the blog and Charlotte worked on writing an article. At dinner time we decided to go...

May 13, 2015 - Extended Stay in Four Oaks

Our plan was to do back-to-back driving days into Virginia and then take a day of rest before proceeding into Pennsylvania. But a strange occurrence has altered that plan. We arrived at the Raleigh Oaks RV Resort in Four Oaks, NC at about three in the afternoon. We did a minimal setup (electric only) in anticipation of departing early the next morning. We went out for some North Carolina barbecue not far from the campground. The Phaeton has a keyless entry system and we both had our activation devices with us when we returned from dinner....

Mar 29, 2015 - Four Oaks, NC

We are back in the east and on I-95. Major traffic snarl yesterday on a bridge repair, compounded by the major interchange 5 miles prior. When 2 routes meet some merging is needed, and when traffic is at a standstill people don't want to merge till they have to. We were glad to get off the highway and reach our campground! We have been on the road for 10 days now. We are tired and ready for home! We ae staying in a brand new RV park just of I-95. It is very nice, an when all the grass grows in and it is finished it will be even nicer. Our...

May 15, 2011 - Travelin' Tarheels Rally

On Sunday morning, our hosts provided a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast. Afterwards, our guest speaker, Paul, led our devotion with remarks about the "windows" in our life, our spiritual windows, and how we should keep them clean. We sang two hymns during the service, then adjourned. Everyone packed up their coaches and headed home or to their next destination. We appreciate the good job that our hosts did in preparing for this rally. We look forward to our next rally, June 8-12, at the Briarcliffe RV Resort in Myrtle Beach. We will...

May 14, 2011 - Travelin' Tarheels Rally

On Saturday, most of the Travein' Tarheels went out exploring the area and shopping. We did the same. We toured around nearby small towns and then shopped awhile at the Carolina Outlet Mall in Smithfield. Back to the coach for lunch and rest awhile. Another rain storm came through with stronger winds than yesterday. John helped a neighbor tackle his wayward awning and get it safely secured. About 5:15 pm, we Travelin' Tarheels caravaned to the Robbins Nest Restaurant for a wonderful buffet dinner. Afterwards, we returned to the campground....
