May 22, 2017 - Day 11 Jacksonville to Columbia 68 miles

This should have been an easy 60 mile day, but we were betrayed by Siri leading us once again to dirt roads, and no water source after our motel this morning. Fortunately it was overcast and wind never blew directly against us. But the riding never seemed to end. In the end, our very gothic dark motel with fittingly creepy owner was over 2 miles, by highway, from nearest convenience store. Let alone restaurant. So after collapsing in our smelly dark room, Gordon almost passed out on the bed, I drank gross tap water and got back on my bike...

Nov 9, 2010 - Day 4 Alligator River to Belhaven NC

Hi All! This morning is the start of Day 4 and we have traveled a whole 105 miles! Yesterday we went from Elizabeth City, NC to the Alligator River anchorage. We had a calm and peaceful night. Winds were predicted to be strong but they were much lighter than expected which was a pleasant surprise. It’s still very chilly at night but doesn’t feel so bad. I guess we are getting use to it. Maybe it because I am wearing 4 layers of clothes! We have just left the anchorage to make a short trip today and anchor in Belhaven…about 35 miles. Our...
