Take an elevator blasted through 460 feet of granite! - Saturday, May 30 After a down day doing errands on Friday, we finally left our comfortable campground in Asheville and set out for the Blue Ridge Parkway, with a slight detour to Chimney Rock first. Chimney Rock is 25 miles from Asheville, and it's in the opposite direction from where we want to go. Today we took a drive to the mountains of North Carolina to an area called Chimney Rock. What an awesome view and colors We did a mile hike into some falls, but unfortunately it has been very dry in this area and the falls had just a trickle over them, but was good exercise.
