Oct 22, 2013 - Waterway RV Park

Enroute to warmer climes, after visiting Aunt Mary in Danville, VA and a stop at Four Oaks, NC, this RV park was selected for a two night stay in my quest to get to the North Carolina coast. The park is mostly seasonal or yearly renters who have park models or RVs which have been anchored to the site with decks, sheds, and most have boats since the marina at the park has a ramp and moorings. I had a site with a waterview just a couple hundred yards from Bogue Bay.

Nov 2, 2012 - Croatan National Forest, NC

A chilly morning after spending the first of four nights at Croatan NF (the only true coastal forest in the East); now 43 degrees. Back from the washroom and a brisk walk around the 40 site campground. Three inches of rain from Hurricane Sandy in this area; no damage. Pleasant, though long journey through Southern Maryland, all of Virginia, and a lot of North Carolina to near Jacksonville and Wilmington yesterday. Hope to visit Cedar Island, Beaufort, & Jacksonville today and get some walking in. Tomorrow might be a trip to Wilmington,...

Oct 7, 2012 - Cedar Point, North Carolina

The morning of October 7th we left Williamsburg and drove 230 miles south to Cedar Point Campground in North Carolina. The campground is in a National Forest Service Recreation Area located just 2 miles from North Carolina's Outer Banks. While here we toured Emerald Isle on the Outer Banks. This place is jamed with homes and resorts for the full 25 mile length of the island. The Outer Banks are separated from the mainland by the Intercoastal Waterway whiuch gives boats protected passage from the Atlantic almost the full length of the east...
