Jul 15, 2015 - Clingman's Dome
It's raining (again - but like Florida, give it 30 minutes and the weather changes, which it has), so a good time to catch up on the blog. On this update, we took a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway and a hike up to Clingman's Dome. Last year we tried to get to the observation tower, but we were rained off the mountain. This time we picked a beautiful day, but about 3/4's of the way up, we were in and out of the clouds and wishing we had brought jackets. Oct 23, 2013 - Day 23. Auburn To Blue Ridge
Nothing much to do in Auburn, really just a stopover on the way to the Appalachian Mountains. We are starting to get into the mountains now and believe it or not the first hotel we went to was fully booked. This is the time when all the city folk come to the mountains to see the fall colours. Found another hotel called Reid Ridge and had a very comfortable night. Did the usual trip to the local bar and met a guy called Bill. He was very friendly and ended off by paying our bill. Couldn’t give us much info on music in the mountains though.Jump to full entry
Apr 10, 2008 - Brrrrrrr!!
Well, a lot has happened since our last post - both for us and (I'm sure) you. We eventually managed to get away from Boston about about 6 hours later than we'd hoped - having had several more tearful goodbyes (Lisa with tears - not me cos I'm a MAN). We didn't think that when we left Boston it would be in a car, but it goes to show that you never know what the future holds. Anyway, as we were driving out of Boston Lisa was trying to hold back the tears and then the radio is playing a song with the words "the tears are in your eyes...." -...Jump to full entry
