Packing, Packing and more Packing; But, we had lots of fun and laughs. Our first stop was here in Black Mountain to help Melissa and family pack to move to the Cleveland area. We took time outs occasionally to enjoy the rewards that Black Mountain has to offer. One of which was a raft trip down the French Broad River. It was a 7 mile journey with Dylan, our grandson, as the pilot of the "ship." We were doing really well until we went thru the first "small" rapids and somehow he forgot he was the pilot and we sailed thru the rapids sideways...

Sep 25, 2014 - Black Mountain NC

Black Mountain, NC My favorite stop on our trip. We had a great time with Melissa, Al, Dylan and Gage. They assured me that I would be okay doing what is called "The Virginia Creeper" a 17 mile bicycle ride down a mountain alongside an abandoned railroad track. I didn't believe them, but I went along anyway. Well, guess what? I did it! And Joyce, I didn't whine at all. It was really fun; it was all downhill and we stopped 1/4 of the way into it and had a lunch that we bought at Subway. A great day! The next day, our son-in-law Al treated us...

Jun 20, 2007 - Finally... on the road

Starting our journey June 18, we ended up not too far from home... less than 200 miles. It was just good to finally get underway. Photos today are at our first campground -- Cove Lake State Park, about 30 miles north of Knoxville. Pearl was a pearl.. the first day. The second day she blew a fuse. Consequently we spent five hours in a RV hospital, but she's OK now. And so are we, now that we have AC and lights. Knittin' and Pearlin' Mamie and Susan
