Oct 6, 2010 - Westport, NY - Barber Homestead RV Park

Our trip back into the good ole USA and to Westport was 113 miles of very good road once we got out of Quebec. Once we had crossed into NY we did manage to see a fox and a coyote cross the road - happened way to fast for pictures. We also saw some unique road kill - a beaver as well as a raccoon, a skunk and a porcupine. The border crossing was uneventful except for a long wait in line to get through. I don't know if the computers were down or something was happening, but we just sat there for at least 20 minutes with no lanes processing...

Aug 6, 2008 - East Canaan, CT, to Westport, NY

We stayed at a small campground right on Lake Champlain. The first week of our stay at the Barber Homestead CG could be described as one rain storm after another. Several times our site was completely surrounded by three to four inches of water and it resembled a swamp more than a campsite. The owners dug a trench across the road to drain away some of the water and the third day we finally built our "bubba porch" using wood pallets and plywood. As you can imagine, taking Ollie out for a walk was a real adventure and then cleaning him up...
