Aug 19, 2017 - Heading East

The past four months have been filled with wonderful times with family and friends but it was not without it's challenges. From the minute I arrived in Michigan until the minute I left I was dealing with medical issues. Fortunately, they have been resolved and I can only pray they do not return anytime soon. This morning I left Detroit and headed east to visit family - something that was not possible last year because of a medical issue. ( I hope that pattern is broken!) Will arrive in Great Barrington tomorrow and can't wait to give and...

Jul 7, 2011 - Singing Our Way Back to Canada

We now looked forward to another two days of driving along Interstate 90, across Massachusetts and New York, to cross back into Canada. Anne had suggested we look at the Thousand Islands crossing at the east end of Lake Ontario, but to get to Toronto, it was actually farther. Jon did some map searching on the computer, and determined that our best route was indeed back the way we had come. We pulled off the road a short way into New York State, just to go for a walk. Our last stop had been in Oakville, hours earlier, and I was stiff and tired. The restaurant we pulled into was closed, and some poor looking people were sitting on steps and leaning on walls. There were gas pumps, saying $1.28, which hasn't been the price of a gallon of gas for a very long...

Jun 26, 2008 - Victor, NY to Middlebury, Indiana

6/26-Our first day of the trip. We made our way from Barchan Dune Rise to Middlebury, Indiana. On our way we passed Erie, PA where Lenore went to school. Middlebury is a small town located in upper mid Indiana where I lived for a while as a kid. RV's are the big industry in Middlebury. We saw the old home I lived in on South Brown Street, my old school, and had dinner at the largest restaurant in Indiana, an Amish restaurant named Das Dutchman Essenhaus. We put up camp at Eby's Pines Campground in Bristol, Indiana just outside of town.
