Feb 2, 2020 - Heading home

The airport in Aruba was a maze of lines with TWO security checks. Granted that the idea was to allow us to skip Custom and Immigration in New York, the over 1.5 hour standing in line was brutal. Lunch was at best filling, and lacked the finesse of the ship! We are spoiled! Jet Blue’s ‘Mint Class’ proved to be just that - Mint, a wonderful experience and extended our cruise ship feeling. Ready to travel with us again? How about next year?

Jan 15, 2020 - Getting there

Three-fifteen in the morning is awfully early! Our Jet Blue flight is the first in the day from the Rochester Airport and we opened it. There were only a handful of passengers and with TSA pre-chek on our tickets, we breezed through security and into our gate with lots of time to take a nap before boarding for the hour flight to New York’s JFK terminal.

Feb 14, 2017 - Traveling Home to Webster, NY

Tuesday Feb. 14, 2017 Traveling Home to Webster, NY We got up at 5AM and Greg took us to the SF Airport. Our Delta flight was at the gate on time and we settled in for the 4 hour flight across the country to New York City and the JFK Airport. We had a surprise treat for Valentine’s Day on board the plane - sparkling wine and chocolates! The approach to JFK was spectacular on a bright, sunny afternoon. There was a four hour layover in JFK and we had a nice Valentine’s dinner. Anne got a box of chocolates that Tom had purchased at Fog City...

Jan 22, 2017 - Traveling to Costa Rica

Our flight from Rochester to Atlanta was at noon, so we did not have to rush out the door. Atlanta had storms surrounding it, but we did not experience any bad weather except some bump as we landed. There was a 3 hour layover and we had a nice dinner at the Jekyll Island Seafood Company and then boarded. The weather front came through just as we were 14th in line to take off and the plane had to taxi (at a fast speed) to the other end of the runway. That all made us an hour late but the pilot “made up for it” and we got in only 30 minutes...

Sep 5, 2016 - In only a day we’ll be on our way!

Sept 5, 2016 We have been planning this trip for nearly year. Our 50th wedding anniversary was back on June 4 and we had decided back when we first visited Italy, that Venice would be THE place to celebrate this event. So tomorrow we head to Venice via Detroit (!), Amsterdam, and then to the Marco Polo Airport. Our bags are almost packed and last minute butterflies are flying around with the decisions to take or not take an item. (Of course, they don’t have anything for sale in Europe)! A final home cooked meal at home and then Tom (the...

Aug 21, 2016 - Aug 20 Lockport to Rochester (62 miles)

Aug 20 - Our host Nancy got up with us to give us a send off, we managed to get on the road just as the light was good. It was a funny start to my day, we had not gone more than a quarter mile, I hit a bump and my front light flipped off and onto the ground so I automatically squeezed my brakes . . . Before I thought to unclip my toe!!! In rather slow motion I just tipped over!! I knew I was going down and it felt like slow motion from that moment I knew I was too late to unclip to the moment I actually hit the grass!! At least I landed in...

We are back home and Anne got to see her doctor about her fall. She is still hurting and it will take a while to get better because of her radiation the bones do not heal as fast. We are thinking of our next trip - this winter - somewhere warm. Florida has been so cool and windy, we're not taking the RV there this year. See you soon on our next adventure! Anne & Tom

Sep 9, 2015 - There Will Be a Short Delay

Sometimes plans get interrupted. I just left Rochester General Hospital equipped with a couple of stents in my heart arteries. It seems that I have experienced a mild – please let me emphasize mild – heart attack. After a few days of hints (some tingling in my arms at the end of runs, some moderate localized heart pain, and an incident of rapid pulse) we finally decided that I should go to an emergency room. The closest was at the hospital in Newark about 35 miles from the campground. I told my story to the folks there and, although my...

Sep 4, 2015 - More Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York

Our next stop in Ohio was one of our favorite places, Ohio’s Amish Country. We spent a week at Evergreen Park RV Resort in Dundee/Mt. Eaton, Ohio. Both Bob and I really enjoy spending time in this area; this was our fifth stay at Evergreen; one of the nicest campgrounds we have been to in our seven years on the road. We went to all our favorite places, flea markets, antique malls, quilt shops, the cheese market, the bakery, the bulk food stores, and Lehman’s Hardware. Traveling through the beautiful countryside and enjoying all the fresh...

Jun 24, 2015 - Niagara Falls

From Lake Ontario, we had to stop in Presque Isle, Pennsylvania (Melissa's from Presque Isle, Maine) so we got a couple quick photos there, then stopped at Niagara Falls. We lucked out and found a parking spot just long enough to snap some photos. The river that brings the water to the falls was the most powerful river I have ever seen. It is extreme rushing, deep water, which makes the falls sound thunderous. From Niagara, we landed at Hamlin Beach State Park. Because it was right after Father's Day, we pretty much had the whole park to...

Our Road Trip

Oct 5, 2014 - The origin of personal photography

Today we visited the home of George Eastman ... the dreamer, and founder of Eastman Kodak Company. You and I take photos often and easily ... and it all got its start with this man. As a teen-ager and school drop-out, he earned $150 a year to start ... and ended up as a millionaire ... not bad. At one time he was the 6th richest person in the country. Thanks to this man, you can easily take photos, lots of them ... and save them for memories of your trips and times. Thanks, George ... I've already taken about 700 on this trip.
